Class of 2015: College Lists

@HobbitTon‌ ur gonna get in all of those

Sophomore, but I figured I might as well post

Early Action
Harvard - Govt
UVA (instate) - Foreign Affairs

Regular Decision
Yale - Political Science
Stanford - Political Science
UPenn - Huntsman
Brown - Political Science/Economics

@afroninja26 you really don’t have a safety unless your stats and intangibles are incredible…

Uva accepts people from my school with a 3.5 gpa and a 1850 on the sat/27 on the act. I should be fine, considering I’m in-state and have a 3.8 uw and 32 on practice acts without studying. Add in my urm status and other “hook,” and I’m hopefully in. Also, I hope I didn’t come across as a bragger, like many others on CC.

@afroninja26‌ Is that acceptance from UVA automatic or is that a general trend in your school? Either way you need another safety. Even with your URM status and your other hook, those schools are reaches considering your stats

@afroninja26 Yeah, you need another safety dude… UVA isn’t an easy school to get into at all, even if it is somewhat easier for in state students.

Well I mean I was planning on going to nova community college if none of the above worked out

Although I am a sophomore here is my list, in order of preference.

Reach:
1.) Penn-Wharton ED have Legacy
2.) UChicago- EA
3.) Stanford
4.) Yale
5.) Cornell Dyson School
Possibly MIT Sloan depending on how all my scores turn out in the end.

Match-Low Reach
1.)Northwestern
2.)Georgetown-McDonough
3.)NYU Stern

I really need more. Any recommendations for good business schools or economics programs for a student, let’s say with a 3.9 GPA (most rigorous)and 2250 SAT and a rate of 8.5 on a scale from 1-10 on ECs.

Saftey
1.) Rutgers in state

This is my list and i feel comfortable with it

 1. UPenn
 2. Princeton
 3. University of Delaware
 4. Drexel
 5. John Hopkins
 6. Georgetown
 7. Temple
 8. York
 9. UMaryland College Park
 10. UMBC

I think my list is p good, got my safeties and my reaches

Loyola Marymount University- top choice

UCSB- 2nd choice

USC- Reach, I’ve heard not so good things about student intellectual property rights here; that really bothers me

NYU- Reeeaaaccchhh

Hofstra University- Safety(basically back up New York school)

Boston University- Reach, considering not applying at all, think I’m losing interest

Dickinson College- Safety(Legacy)

University of Hawaii at Manoa- Safety

I still haven’t confirmed the places I want to apply to yet. My biggest restriction is financial aid, so schools that give out a lot of merit / known for giving out lots of need-based are my options atm. I have a few financial safeties that I know I will be able to afford.

Saint Louis University (safety)
Washington University in St. Louis (reaching for the stars)
University of Missouri (safety)
University of Rochester (my favorite atm)
University of Alabama (safety)

I’m considering applying to a few of the following
Boston University
University of Miami
Illinois Institute of Technology
University of Southern California

With a 3.67 uw gpa… 31 act… hope I have a good shot at some of these.

Updated list:
University of Massachusetts - Amherst
Bentley University
Quinnipiac University
Hofstra University
Clark University (I really like Massachusetts :D)
SUNY Binghamton
Stetson University (free app w/no essay, only school outside the Northeast)
Rider University (in-state private)
William Paterson University (in-state public, free app w/no essay, also the only commuter school on my list)

2.7 W GPA (did terrible sophomore year), lots of ECs, a significant leadership position, African-American male born to Nigerian immigrants, also have another “secret weapon” hook that will be talked about in my essay. I’m taking the SATs in four days, and I’m really pulling for an 1800. In that case, I will be applying to UMass, Hofstra, Clark, Stetson (streamlined), Rider and WPU (streamlined) all under EA, Quinnipiac under Rolling Admission, and Bentley and Binghamton will be RD. I may just add another school, though. Any suggestions?

Alabama

Clemson

USC

Auburn

UT

Vanderbilt

Duke

College of Charleston

It really just depends on the financial aid packages I get. Alabama’s automatic full tuition scholarship is a major pull to there for me. UT and Vandy are in state.

@sshsdancer97 haha look at mine, pretty similar. I have Bama at the top cause of the automatic scholarship but a lot of other good schools under it

@Ctesiphon, you have an excellent chance at Illinois Tech.

Thank you. I’m more worried though about the type of Fin aid I would receive. My ACT is above the 75th percentile, but I haven’t researched much into how merit / need - based aid is handled at IIT.

(Mostly) not in order:

Amherst College [possible ED]

Yale [possible EA]

UPenn

Dartmouth

Brandeis

Ohio State (in-state)

American University

Georgetown

Wash. U

Parsons

FIT

Boston College

Boston University

Emory

Pepperdine (lol)

UCLA

Clemson

Vanderbilt

UGA

Claremont Mckenna

@CutieP‌

Why no Savanah?

Bringing this bad boy back

 1. Rice (ED) 2. Georgetown 3. UCLA 3.5 UC San Diego (I’ve easily got the numbers, but it was such a great school) 4. Notre Dame 5. Johns Hopkins 6. USC 7. Vanderbilt 8. U Mich 9. UC Davis (another safety)
