Class of 2016: EA/Regular decision discussion

I don’t think I should expect my letter tomorrow. It would be a miracle for it to get from DC to the northwest so fast! Is anyone else on this forum from Washington state?

yeah, gtown notoriously rejects every person from my school, too. the one person whose been accepted in 20 years of existence was that black girl i mentioned, and this is coming from a school that is full of competitive applicants (though i think only like 3 - 5 apply to gtown every year).

i actually don’t know my class rank… i’d say i’m probably in the top 3 - 7%. i’m a little hesitant to just play the numbers game, though. isn’t gtown sort of known for giving much more equal weighting to the rest of the application?

about the catholic school deal, in my experience it is definitely easier to be accepted if you go to one. a bunch of idiots from catholic schools in my area make it in every year, even 1700/1800 range white kids who haven’t taken any APs.

In the past 4 years, 20 people from my school have applied and only 3 have been accepted. :(

lol i am full of first world problems, i have serious trouble coming up with anything for those “overcoming adversity” app questions b/c i feel like my childhood was sort of magically perfect and i’m not gonna be lame enough to throw down the LGBT or depression card

Whoa @kerplunkish, my case isn’t that extreme. Maybe 7 or so kids in the past 10 years. 0/7 last year. I’m against only 1 EA applicant in my school and naviance only has us, so I assume same for RD. The three or four that I’ve seen accepted have either been legacies or extremely unique. At this point, I’m feeling resigned and trying to get excited about my second choice school…haha, a little sad.

who knows though, you may be way more qualified than the 17 that were rejected. at this point all of our hypothesizing is kind of pointless, we’re just gonna get what we get (easy to say, harder to swallow)

@purpledogs, hey that’s a good attitude to have at this point.

@purpledogs that’s exactly how i feel. rough batch last year, eh? good luck though! i’m also trying to get stoked about my 2nd (realistic) choice (tufts), whats yours?

My second choice is WashU. Not really realistic though lol

I would be the first accepted… though I’m the first to be even remotely qualified. I’ve been refusing to discuss even the possibility of going to georgetown for the past few weeks so I don’t get my hopes up. My mom keeps buying me t-shirts with my safety school on them so I start liking it more (its working)

@bp94, if you get into Georgetown are you definitely going to enroll?

Haha, counting on BC, maybe Honors program. (fan of the early action  )

Would it help or hurt me if I’m the only one applying from my school EA?

ah well, everyone here has such great scores that i feel sure you’ll end up somewhere good. ever since our valedictorian with the 2370 and ridiculous extracurriculars got deferred from columbia, i’ve been methodically reminding myself not to get my hopes up. i’ve got to say, college application is a great way to diminish the overblown egos of the hyperintelligent

@prettyawesome27 i would think that it would help you
do you guys think minnesota will get it tomorrow? i really hope so!

Colombia has been pretty brutal this year, my best friend is absolutely amazing (much higher qualifications than I) and got rejected.

POLL: if you get the letter when you’re at school and you have a parent or someone that stays at home during the day, are you going to let them open it without you (and text you the outcome), or ask to wait until you get home so you can open it yourself?

does anyone know if NJ should be getting it tomorrow or the next day? i’m not sure i can wait until thursday haha

Definitely wait. I must know first. And my 2nd school is BC… I think BC is basically a school of Georgetown rejects

@kerplunkish: NJ people should get it tomorrow.
