Class of 2017 (From Nepal) - Official Discussion Thread. . .

I am also thinking of applying on Round II. I messed up my SAT on Oct…so waiting for the Dec SAT. I guess it’s easier applying through common app!

@JacobsWannaBe Congratulations for your SAT score! Those scores can definitely take you wherever you want!! Where are you applying btw?

does Bucknell University give ample amount of financial aid? Is there anyone who went there? Confused!

@scourge566 Thank you brother… I have ED-ed to Colby and also will apply to a bunch of other LACs… and one university- Yale…

Yeah my academics are good (All As ) and SAT is okay too… However, I am not sure if I will be evaluated as a Nepalese or an Indian …since I have lived whole my life in Delhi, India. However, I am a Nepalese citizen… My High-schooling was in India too…

By the way, good luck to all the fellow applicants around…

@JacobsWannaBe When are Colby’s ED results out btw? Best of luck for Yale bro!! Of course you are Nepalese then, you’ll have a double advantage…Americans love Indian brains and adore Nepalese demeanor. You have both the positive points!

@macmurderharder If you are applying to Bucknell University then you NEED to know these;

 1. There are 144 international students in Bucknell U *undergraduate students
 2. 24 of these international students get financial aid *need based

I heard someone went to Bucknell from Nepal few years ago.

@sixstringsrocker Yeah bro, extremely busy.

@scourge566 Colby’s decision is coming out on 14th December’s Morning… I hope I get accepted here … that way I wouldn’t have to apply to Yale… anyway…

However, I would like to go to a liberal arts college more than a reputed university…

@JacobsWannabe I think you having either nationality wouldn’t matter in your acceptances… is that not it ?

Also, can you cross register at Yale from Colby?.. or am I completely wrong?

@^ …as far as I understand, nationality does matter in most cases, unless one is super duper intelligent or a genius or accomplished in some other way…

I haven’t heard yet about any cross registration from Colby to Yale… yet I wouldn’t be surprised if there is one…

just fyi,

unless the campuses are very close, cross registration isn’t as easy as it sounds. Commuting time that you could be doing work/studying, scheduling issues, etc.

I’ve been told, in the past 10 years or so, there has been less than 5 cross registrations between the 6 colleges in the Lehigh Valley (Lafayette, Lehigh, DeSales, Moravian, Muhlenberg, and Ceder Crest).

And nationality does count to an extent. the schools want as diverse class as possible. No point in having 7% international students with 75% being from the same region of the world.

Bucknell - RBS (1)

@Vivaciouskrish Congrats to that guy/gal…

Looks like Early Decision Decisions are underway. Best of luck everyone!

As some of you brace for your ED application decision, and the others write your essays. this is probably a good article to begin writing.

Heard VASSAR ED decisions are out, anyone in?

Colby Sawyer- chelsea (3)
Westminister - chelsea (1)
APU - chelsea (1)

and me still waiting sigh!

Best of luck everyone!

what I worry about is the dialogue “You shall not Pass!”
as my username suggests and I hate this irony!

^
Ha! Tell me about it!

APU = Azusa Pacific? Do they offer full fin. aid? What about the other two?

It’s amazing that all 5 acceptances are from the same school!

I’m so freaking out. I think I could just get rejected everywhere. I scored only 2000 on the SATs. I thought I could get at least 2100. Worst is that my grades are merely average. :</p>

Asia Pacific University!
They already received merit based and still are expected to get need based! All in all I think they are in a better place.
