Class of 2017 Scholarships

If I get in I would absolutely love to go, but money is an issue for me also. Tbh, I would have applied ED to WashU if financial aid was not a problem.

Has anyone been selected as a finalist for the University Scholars Program?

No one from my school did.

I applied for the Mylonas and Nemerov and am a finalist for the Nemerov. I have a few questions. First of all, does becoming a finalist for one of these scholarships guarantee admission to WashU, or is it still all up in the air? Second, around how many finalists invited to visit campus get a scholarship/return empty-handed?

Any information anybody might have would be welcome. :)

Son is not a finalist for the Moog. He won’t be able to attend now even if he gets in, but at least now he knows and can move on. Congratulations to all of the finalists!!!

Congrats to the finalists! You guys got a great opportunity I’d kill for!

And ditto to everyone above me. Unless they’re miraculously generous, WUSTL’s FA will most likely not cover enough for me to attend (if I got in, of course).

One thing that made me laugh was how the rejection was worded.

Them: “On behalf of the scholarship committee…”
Me: WAIT, OMG WHAT’S HAPPENI-
Them: “thank you for applying.”
Me: …well that sucked.

finalist for Ervins  got a phone call that woke me up at 1pm a few days ago. Nay on University Scholars Program  expected that though. Not one ounce of actual medical experience and I think I put architecture down as my major for admissions XD lol. Congrats everyone!

So I didn’t think getting Summer Scholars meant acceptance into the school, but the letter said “Congratulations on your acceptance into Washington University.” I’m assuming that means I’m in?

I got rejected from all scholarships including the university medical :frowning: let’s hope for Princeton or Yale now

As a former Summer Scholar, yes, you are accepted into the school. Congratulations and let me know if you have any questions!

I got into the Summer Scholars too! I was really hoping for the University Scholars, but that’s a no go for me. Best of luck to those that are – make sure you don’t take this opportunity for granted.

I think we all need to keep in mind just how many people apply to Wash U., and just how amazing of students they are. The scholarships are really limited, and it can be tricky to really get yourself across in a measly application.

What is the Summer Scholars Program? Who is eligible? Does it come with scholarship money?

The Summer Scholars in Biology and Biomedical Research (SSBBR) program is a seven-week, all expenses paid, research program for incoming freshmen at WashU. Prospective students apply to the program as they would with all of the other merit-based awards; however, the Summer Scholars program does NOT come with additional grant money for tuition.

I got into the Summer Scholars in Biology and Biomedical Research program too!

Danforth Finalist!
