@LOUKYDAD I thought we had seen MD as 223 cut off. Your most recent posting from Art moves it down to 222. Any idea what triggered that adjustment?
For the record, DD has been called to the headmasters office. The message from his secretary told her not to worry. Assuming she is going to finally be told she made NMSF. Seriously annoying knowing some folks learned more than 10 days ago and have been able to begin or even complete their applications.
My principal has the letter but won’t tell us until the 13th.
@snowfairy137 Your principal needs to reread their instruction letter. Sigh, right?!
Any word on boarding school regions?
@dowzerw yeah. My counsoler already thinks I’m insane though, so I’m just gonna leave it be.
@dowzerw nope but you could look through the 1947 comments on his blog and perhaps find out.
No sarcasm intended I just don’t have the patience! Wish he could something with sure.
Has anyone heard anything about the national merit semifinalist cutoff scores for MS? I know it was 212 last year.
@kitkat333 Check the scores listing above. Looks like it has probably gone up but we don’t know for sure yet.
@LOUKYDAD I just didnt know if you did any manual editing that led to the change in the MD score. Art’s blog is too hard to weed through to go back there and in terms of my kid, I know she’s in (thanks to the orracle of CC, NO thanks to NMC as no official notification yet!)
Thanks, @JBFlying !
@booklady123 I know the New England boarding school region follows the highest scoring state in the region, which is typically MA. This year, MA cutoff, hence NE BS cut off, is 222.I assume the other BS regions similarly follow the highest score among schools in their region but I do not know for sure. I only confirmed with NMC how they handle NE.
Turns out our guess that DD was called in to the headmaster’s office today to finally receive her official NMSF notification was wrong. So as of Friday, Sept 8, our school has not notified and I am fairly certain it means they have not received their notification yet. The lack of uniformity in bulk mail delivery leaves a lot to be desired, NMC.
It was not all bad, though. Turns out she was called in as she won a big award at her school this morning and the headmaster had her in to let her know if came with a robust scholarship towards her boarding school tuition. Woo hoo.
@dowzerw I think I saw some post some place that NE BS cut off was 223 but I could be wrong.
^^^Right. NJ is 223, isn’t it?
Edit: or is NJ not considered part of that region?
I am pretty sure NJ is not considered a part of the region and the National Merit folks did specifically refer me to MA. @ShrimpBurrito
According to Art’s blog, he believes all 50 states are now confirmed with final cut-offs.

Thanks, dowzerw - He goes to a NH boarding school but lives in MA. And he has a 222. So hopefully he should be okay…
From the Bay Area in CA. My daughter and 40+ other seniors were notified & given their packets by the counselors on Thursday.
