Class of 2018 Wait List

So, did anyone confirm their waitlist position and send in their interest letter yet? For those who were waitlisted to SCS, do you think they will take in anyone from the priority waitlist? I doubt it because an increased number of people seemed to show interest in SCS this year.

Some people who get into SCS end up choosing Stanford and Berkeley for the location.

@Jwen556 Yes, but their target is around 150 (minus the people who got in ED). They took in 360. Considering how many people applied, it shows that people are actually interested in SCS. So, I think there will be no spots left this year…maybe like 1 or 2 (like last year).

@agg999 I would agree if finances were not a factor. CMU is not exactly need blind. They want 30k over EFC

@bonee26 what do you mean? are you talking about the waitlisted people? because CMU is need-blind for RD and ED. For the waitlist, they explicitly mentioned that the are need-aware. So, I have EFC < 5000 here. So, pretty much there is no way they are going to admit me from the waitlist.

Anyone know where to submit the optional 2,000 character essay?

EDIT: never mind, found it

The waitlist website. It says, if you haven’t submitted the essay click here once you log in.

@agg999. I’m just curious. If you are on the waitlist at CMU, you have the option of submitting a 2,000 character essay?

yes. do you not?

Does anyone have any idea about CIT’s mechanical engineering or MCS’s physics?
