SCS Priority Waitlist

Hi! I know there are a ton of threads already like this on CC, but I was getting varied responses and was wondering if I could get some clarification.

I was recently waitlisted for SCS (the only school I applied to), and sent in my letter to be placed on the priority waitlist. Is this option offered to everyone, or just a select few?

Based on previous threads, I'm thinking it would be good to send in a supplemental essay/letter to show more interest. Is there anything else that I can do to increase my chances? About how many people are waitlisted/get off the waitlist for SCS?

I've heard the decision is not need-blind. How much would it increase my chances if I'm female and willing to pay full tuition? Also, if I do get accepted, how are the prospects for housing? I know it's guaranteed, but would I get stuck with one that nobody wants (I was really hoping for Morewood E-tower or Mudge)?

CMU is my first choice, and I would definitely attend if offered a spot off of the waitlist. I was just wondering what my chances are and if it would be a better use of my time to take my mind off of CMU altogether.

Thanks!

Last year I think they only took two people of the SCS waitlist, and that’s apparently normal. You can try writing and calling to show interest, but yes, it would be a good idea to take your mind off CMU and consider your other options.

You’ll probably be one of the last in line for housing, since everyone else has to make their deposit before May 1, and you likely won’t be notified until after then.
