Class of 2018 (yikes!) - Sharing,Venting, Etc

They should be able to email. Everyone seems to have work cellphones these days. I hope they send something out soon. I would hate to see anyone travel through the night when everything will ice over and be dangerous.

Sorry to anyone with auditions scheduled this weekend. It’s just a lot of unneeded stress. :frowning: I would guess things will start to move fairly smoothly again on major roads by late Friday morning/lunchtime. Back roads could be a problem. For instance, our township snow plow just left a huge mound of snow in front of my driveway. We live on a culdesac and sometimes one driveway gets blocked. We aren’t going anywhere anytime soon! If we had an audition this weekend I would have run out there and chased that snowplow down though!!

Hey at least they’re shoveling in your neighborhood. That doesn’t happen in NC. We’re literally snowed in right now.

I emailed American yesterday at 4 and haven’t heard anything yet. A friend that lives near DC has said it seems to be letting up and it’s supposed to be much warmer tomorrow and Saturday. Fingers crossed!

We are snowed in here. Son and husband flying out to Texas State tomorrow. Needless to say they are leaving early!

Also snowed in (and getting more so every minute as the snow continues to fall) west of Boston, but still planning to try to get to the airport tomorrow am to fly to Indiana via DC. Indiana emailed everyone that they’re aware auditioners coming from the North East might be having a hard time getting there and offering March 1 as an alternate date, as well as video supplements to their prescreen as a last-ditch solution. So glad I bought flight insurance for this trip!

This is crazy…. LA is 85 degrees today!

American U has also decided to allow video auditions for anyone who can’t get to their scheduled audition due to the weather. We are still hoping to get their for the live audition, but it’s good to know we have options!

This year is even worse but this is such a bad time of year to have auditions because some part of the country is having bad weather. Last year every weekend we traveled we ran into snow and or ice. I realize going later does not leave time for decisions but maybe they need to do the majority of auditions in the fall. As much as my D would not have been ready -if that was when they were she would have prepared earlier

@broadway95 - I was just thinking the same thing. Why can’t auditions be September-December? We did as much as we could early, but many colleges only offered January/February auditions. Oh well, I’m sure there is some administrative reason, but weather concerns certainly make the process even more difficult.

Driving from PA to Elon in February a couple of years back was a little crazy with just a little bit of bad weather. This year has been so whacky, I feel for anyone who has to catch a flight or drive to a school. By pure accident, my son did most of his on campus auditions early, then did NYC unifoeds, and did Elon last in Feb. That would be the course of action if we had to do it all over again after seeing this crazy winter.

Be careful and safe everyone. The schools will be reasonable and do what they can, and it will all work out somehow.

Elon’s closed today. I don’t see any mention of what will be done about auditions on their website, but saw on Facebook that kids were re-scheduling for the 21st and 28th.

Flight from LGA to Cleveland canceled! No live B-W audition for D this weekend!!!

UGH!!!

cellomom! I can’t believe it after all that!

yup, well B-W was very nice and D will be able to submit videos (which are NEVER as good as a live audition but it’s not their fault so yah…)

Oh my, I hope that sydsim didn’t drive down there from NJ!

I just read that auditions are still going on today, so all is good…I hope.

Awww thanks for worrying about us! Sorry I haven’t posted sooner, but we were in contact with Elon and were able to switch dates. Here’s hoping that another blizzard won’t come then!

And wouldn’t you know it was nearly 60 degrees here today! NC has the absolute weirdest weather!! I’m glad that you were able to switch since I imagine NJ was a mess!
