Class of 2018 (yikes!) - Sharing,Venting, Etc

“Private school tuition to sing and dance is hard for me to accept”

That does put it in perspective. Sigh.

I’d beg, borrow (heavy on the borrowing) but not steal – if only someone would take my D. No “big envelopes” at my house so far. :(

I know EastchesterMom. I frlt the same way until last Friday and Saturday wheb big envelope with no financial help is stressing. we will work it out i know.

EastchesterMom-I’m thinking of you and your daughter, hoping that you get the “big envelope” soon!

Just an FYI, my daughter’s acceptance, waitlist, and rejections all came in small envelopes so far.

Sending good vibes to you EastchesterMom. Hoping there is good news for your D soon!

I’m in the same place MtorBust he got a great offer from a great state program, he’s on the fence. I’m ready to push him off the fence LOL

If the State school was his only acceptance I bet my son would think it was a “FIT” then. The Private he wants with merit scholarship is still double our State school. So much for early retirement. I’m thinking of bribery…state school and a new car…still save me a bundle. its not beneath me. Please don’t judge. Lol

Hang in there eastchester! It isn’t over yet!! Sending good vibes your way

Oh Eastchester, I hope she gets one…I’ll say a prayer.

Re the state school acceptances…tell your kids you’ll get them a car with the money you save…it’ll be a bargain compared to the private college with little or no $$…and I know, I am about to make my last NYU payment for my older daughter (not a performing arts major)! Top 10% of her class, amazing board scores…and all they gave her on merit was $5,000 per year. The so-called financial need was all loans. Annual cost this year? $62K.

Its big business. We didn’t try for NYU because of the price.$62k OUCH! Your daughter is a lucky girl. I told my son if he wants to make money open a college and sing your heart out on weekends…once he called me the Dream Crusher I folded.

Lol you are all making me laugh. Our state school really wants my son too so my husband did say brand new car and he would then take me to Hawaii my son isnt falling for it so no early retirement or vacation!!! EastchesterMom we are all pulling for her. Hang in there it will all work out!!!

I didn’t think of the new car bribe for the state school. I’m going to give it a try!

We have to do what we have to do LOL.

Yeah, I’m in debt up to my eyeballs thanks to NYU and wherever D ends up…LOL! Hey, why am I laughing?

EastchesterMom whats your option its laughing or crying so I would stick with the laughing!!! That is wonderful you were able to give her that opportunity and congrats on last payment do you have a coupon book you can burn you know like burning the mortgage LOL

@eastchestermom, if you miss the payments and feel somewhat out of sorts, I’ve got two more year’s worth I’d be happy to share with you.

OUCH 62K I feel bad complaining about the 35K he is looking at from Rider LOL. eastchestermom - good things are coming for her I feel it, may not be exactly how she planned it would happen…but its going to happen!

@MTMajorCook, same here with Rider…it could be worse I suppose.
