Class of 2018

NEW QUESTION – Do most/all of the professors at Earlham provide a syllabus for their class?

Dorms: Bundy is an old, interesting building. Barrett is more institutional. Hoerner may still be a freshman option and is considered the “quiet” dorm. Good thing because the walls are thin. Also the rooms are not as flexible as the other dorms, but for some people Hoerner is a good fit. Professors I believe still provide a syllabus, some are better than others at sticking to it.

Thanks, Maffdad!!!

New Question:

It’s early July, and my son has received info that he is enrolled in an Earlham Seminar 1 class that was not his first choice. That wouldn’t be the end of the world, but the Seminar class also has a lab that conflicts with an Art class he REALLY wanted to take. My question is – in your (or your son or daughter’s) experience, are Earlham Seminar assignments etched in stone? Is there any way to improve upon this situation? This could just be the breaks with a small school like Earlham – not a lot of classes available as often as you would like them to be available. But if there’s a way to work around this, and my son just doesn’t know how to DO THAT work around yet, I figure this would be the place to get answers!

Hi schleppenheimer. Have you received an answer from Earlham yet on this? Seminars are etched in stone in the sense that they have to take them, but I don’t think they have to take them in a particular order. In other words, there are two freshman seminars. As I understand it, half of the first-years take one seminar the first semester, and half take the other seminar. Then they switch for second semester.

Also, I think these are small groups, so there is probably more than one of the seminar your S is registered for. Could he take one at a different time/day?

Do you have contact information for his advisor yet? If so, he/she would be the best person to ask. If not, just call and they’ll point you in the right direction. As you know by now, Earlham is accommodating. :-)

I think Earlham is ■■■■■■ up college, one student from Nepal get suicide after college withdraw its admission offer :frowning:

Earlham don’t give best need based aid to underprivileged student.

That was class of 2018 student. College has withdraw student offer letter of admission after he/she secure VISA to come to Earlham. College admission ppl are unethical regarding his future failure.
