Hi guys!
I’m also applying to Olin, and I would love to hear from some of the other people here about their grades, ECs and Courses.
I’d like to think of this as an opportunity to chance my own application and I hope others will a chance to do the same, so I don’t get my hopes up too high. Let me know what you think as well

Common App Essay: I’m quite proud of it. Its about how I saved my mothers life when she had a brain stroke after my father passed away and my brother was working in a different country. It definitely stands out if not anything and I would like to believe it is well written.
Supplements: Tried my best to capture Olin in them. Looked through countless videos on YouTube to get a feel of the place, and linked all of ECs in there too.
Extra Curriculars (ECs):
- 2 tech startups: EasyNav, a shoe sole with vibration motors and bluetooth that links navigation data from a phone to relay directions to the blind. Liaised with the National Association of the Blind in India for its implementation, currently on the Prototyping stage, all products are sold at manufacturing costs i.e. non profit. PortaCharge, a simple device that allows users to charge their phone using any 9V battery. The batteries are universally compatible and can be taken to remote regions of India for temporary service.
- Started my own Android Applications development company that works with several small-time business nearby to offer them products at low prices. All proceeds generated at the went to the pediatric oncology ward at a nearby hospital, where I volunteered.
- In order to cover the costs of production of the Android Apps, I started the Computer Science Club in school, where I teach students Android and utilise school facilities for working out of. Currently it is the only initiative started in school that is run exclusively by students.
Social Service and Part-time work:
- Head of the music committee for the NGO Muktangan. We volunteer to educate children in music through weekly lessons. 50 hours approx, year 11 only.
- Leader of Make-a-Difference Project: We collect funds to help support our own dental camp for the underprivileged children in Mumbai, India. We currently hosted a football tournament to collect basic funds and liaised with doctors across the city. 30 hours approx, year 12 only.
- SAT Tutorship: I initially interned and finally taught aspects of the SAT Reasoning test to students both older and younger than me before working there part-time. All the funds I collected went to the hospital I volunteered at. 50 hours approx, year 11 and 12.
- Hospital Volunteer: Every week I would go and sing for the patients in the pediatric ward of a hospital. They would give me recommendations and I would play for them. Along with that I also helped around there as much as I could through organizing basic activities. The poor conditions there actually led me to do as much as I could to help. 30 hours approx, year 11 and 12.
Music and Misc.
- Lead singer and guitarist of school band. We were the only one to ever compete from our school. We placed 3rd at the largest band competition in the district.
- Sang for the school play. I was selected out of dozens of students to sing a song in French, I language I do not even studied and I managed to pull it off.
- Started the Music Club in School for people with passion to just come and perform no holds barred. It was also the only student run initiative in my school and was only in year 11, unlike the Computer Science club which was only in year 12. My time in the music club actually inspired me to volunteer at Muktangan (mentioned above).
