What I’ve heard is that Dickinson is particularly stingy when it comes to financial aid for international students. I don’t know of any applicants from Nepal last year that were accepted with EFCs less than 10k, and some of them had some really impressive stats (2250+ SAT I, A-level results mostly A*s and national-level extracurriculars). Stats are only part of an application, and it appears that Dickinson, along with a lot of other colleges that are strapped for cash, expects internationals to pay the full price.
I hope I’m wrong, as I’m applying to Dickinson.
@shialabeouf yeah i hope that too. I am also applying to dickinson - rd.
@shialabeouf From my experience, I have to say that I totally agree with what you had to say. It seems Dickinson expects it’s international applicants to pay at least 15k-20k annually. Some of my friends with excellent stats (all A* A-levels, 2000+ SAT, impressive ECAs, exceptional essays, etc.) who were able to pay only 5-10k were rejected, where as those with significantly weaker stats/applications paying around 20k were all accepted. Hence, Dickinson’s admission trend is quite clear (to me at least). I chose not to waste my application on Dickinson this year. But all the best to you two! @itsmeeee

There were some students from the threads of previous years who reported their GPA on a 4.0 scale by converting their A-level grades. Most of these conversions were very conservative, with an A grade being something like a 3.7. I know it is highly recommended for students like us to not report a GPA, but if we did, would it have an overall impact on our application? Or would a converted GPA be ignored by college admissions? I only ask because many of the students who reported a GPA were accepted to very few colleges.
