How likely (or unlikely) is it that a school would use email to notify a student?
Compass update: “Latest news of the day is a report from a 221 NMSF in Texas. (8:45 PM PDT)”
@3scoutsmom, If the latest from Art is accurate, it looks like you got the trifecta! 3 kids, 3 national merit semifinalists. Congrats!
@3scoutsmom congratulations!!!
@3scoutsmom With the news from Art’s blog, my son also completed a trifecta of semi-finalists im the family this year with a 221 in Texas.
That is a distinct possibility—if just just skimming the numbers. Hoping the report from Compass is accurate!
@3scoutsmom Congrats
Thanks everyone! DH a actually woke me up with the news from Art’s blog this morning I’d like to hear from at least one more 221 confirmation in TX before I say anything thing to DS. This has been such an informational rollercoaster for us!
@3scoutsmom, A big congratulations!!! Well done, 3 for 3!
@3scoutsmom and @aghaby Congratulations to you and the other Texas families!
As @3scoutsmom said, I’m trying to hold my excitement until we get official confirmation, but it looks like my son got in.
So happy for the TX 221-moms! Still hoping that these lower cutoffs in some states, including CA, mean that IL will stay at 221!
Hoping for good news in Georgia. Have a NMF from class of 2018 and anxiously awaiting news for my 2020 kid. Have only seen the one report of 222 which is 2 points higher than last year. Husband’s company gives $3000 a year to employee kids who qualify so there is actually money involved for us no matter where she chooses.
Congratulations @aghaby for 3 NMF kids!
We homeschool in Florida. My daughter qualified! Got our letter yesterday. 220 qualifies in Fla.
Anyone from Michigan ?
congrats mom, my kid has a 220 as well but no official word yet
Waiting for news from Minnesota, my DD20 has a 220 but her school waits until the official date to notify the kids.
Thank you @mavian and good luck to all.
Looks like D20 qualifies in CA (she has a 225 but refuses to accept the fact until her counselor confirms).
For you NMSF veterans out there, could you offer some clarification on when students “designate” a school? We see a lot of scholarships (USC, Fordham, etc) that are conditioned upon “If ________ is designated as the scholar’s first choice school” as well as some other factors (ie top 1% of applicants). It seems like you could designate a school early, but then not get in … but if you designate it too late you could miss competing for the funds.
D20’s first choice school does not offer NMF scholarships so she is praying for merit aid. If she doesn’t get it, or doesn’t get in, there are a couple schools she would love to attend (if accepted) that do offer selective (not “automatic”) NMF scholarships. Am I making this too complicated?
Thank you!
