google chrome is OK for me too. But no updates yet for today in Art’s blog.
Anyone in Arkansas heard yet? I’m pretty sure our school will stay tight lipped until the press release on the 11th.
I got the error on Art’s blog also, but it’s back up. I was hoping he was updating…
We have not yet visited the Florida schools but have done a lot of research. My son wants to major in physics/astronomy so we’re mostly looking at UF as well as schools in other states. His stats: 4.8w/4.0uw gpa, 1510 SAT, 5/527 class rank, and according to reported scores he’ll be a NMSF (yay!). Schools that give full COA or full tuition for NMF are highest on our list as we don’t qualify for financial aid and don’t want to pay “prestige” prices for undergrad.
My daughter is interested in physics as well- if you find places with big scholarships for NM that are great for physics, please share:)
Leading our list for NMF schools for physics are UF (full COA) and Arizona (full tuition +). Others with NMF $ are New Mexico (full COA), UTD (full COA), Oklahoma (good, but not full tuition) or other Florida schools: UCF, FSU, EMBR, Miami (all full COA). We’re also looking at schools with competitive scholarships like Michigan, Rutgers, Boston, Georgia Tech, etc, but will hedge our bets with NM schools.
@3scoutsmom Forgot to write earlier, but congratulations! Very glad everything worked out
@CONNER1234 We are Maryville as well. My D20 appears to have made the cutoff, so we are excited as we are Merit chasing.
220 made it in Nebraska. Nebraska should be lower, but at least we have a confirmed something for Nebraska.
Oh I just checked Art and he had the lower score for Nebraska. This having to work thing put a crimp on my NMSQT scoping.
@BMC9670 Just got off the phone from UMiami Undergraduate Financial Assistance. She clarified that Benacquisto will only cover the amount of COA for a public school. You would have to make up the difference or find money that stacks.
Also I believe Florida legislature has to approve Benaquisto annually. Some FL colleges guarantee but Univ of Florida I believe doesn’t. Knowing that this is a easy cut for OOS students, not sure one should bank on it. UCF I believe guarantees even if Legislature revokes the same. Correct me otherwise.
i just broke down and emailed my son’s guidance counselor. i just can’t take the waiting any more!!!
Correct. We haven’t looked into Miami specifically, just saw it as a participating school.
227 here in CA. It was great know right away! I wish we could give our scholarships away as i’m 99% sure DS20 will get into his top choice-Yale-but best of luck anyways!
While the state can end the program for any incoming year, once a student is enrolled and awarded the scholarship it “provides funds for 100 percent of the number of credit hours required to complete a baccalaureate degree program, or until completion of a baccalaureate degree program, whichever comes first”. We know a current Freshman at UF who had a lengthy exchange with the Florida Office of Student Financial Aid last year before enrolling and they clarified that this is the case. The state is the guarantor, not the school. Of course, if we decide on UF, we will be getting it in writing ;-).
Art’s page is having issues. It now defaults to the archived 2019 page.
Was just about to say this— having the same problem! I wonder if the cause is related to the 502 error that happened earlier.
No news for Michigan yet, this waiting game is going to be painful.
Thanks BMC9670. That helps clarify.
