I’m about to do the same. Can’t. Stand. It.
Minnesota is 219
Hope Compass blog is OK. I’m wondering if sharing and speculating about NMS got him into trouble and had to pull the page? Just my speculation…
Thank you charlesshi12! This is good news for my 220 DD!
It does seem strange the blog is defaulting to last year. I wonder why would it cause trouble this year in particular as opposed to past years? That would be weird. And would NMS have any power to tell him to take down the page? That doesn’t seem likely, although I have no idea. He’s only compiling info from people who have already been given the info early from counselors, or homeschoolers. Hmmm. Hopefully, it’s just a technical malfunction.
Our concern for the FL schools was the possibility of the legislature not renewing the scholarship. FSU told us in March that they would not guarantee the scholarship if the state not funding it.
Ultimately S19 decided to go to Alabama for the 5 years of scholarship. In his suite of 4 boys, 3 of them are NMF. He applied as a Physics major, but has changed to math and is doing the STEM to MBA program. He might get his masters in math his 4th year and then finish his MBA his 5th year. The scholarship gave him so many options that he felt like he couldn’t turn it down.
I’m hoping D20 might also go to Alabama, but trying not to push.
brentwoodmom – did the university specifically place your son with the other NMFs, was it coincidence or did your family request that? Just curious how they put roommates together. According to major? According to honors/NMF status? or both? or neither?
@amsunshine They chose each other. There are a few ways to meet some of the other NMFs going to Bama. They have a scholars weekend in January with a special reception for NMFs. Then lots of the people applying for special programs like Randall’s Research are NMF. My son actually found one of his roommates from a mom that reached out through here and that roommate pulled in the other NMF he had met at an interview weekend, but my son had been asked by other NMFs he met at the reception about rooming together, so he ended up having several options for suites with NMFs.
Its an almost sure thing. They just need you to submit and get a qualifying score . GOOD LUCK and make sure you check out UCF and the other Florida schools !
Yep no problem I had a 220 as well.
charlesshi12 So are you sure 219 is the cutoff in MN or just sure that 220 got you in? DD has a friend with a 219 in Minnesota so we are curious.
219 I’m pretty sure my counselor showed me
Does anyone know if 219 is definitely the cutoff for Florida? Arts page went down with a big “?” next to it and it said still confirming…
@Minismom Is this confirmed? How? Waiting with 219 in FL right now.
This is disturbing. I had heard numerous reports on this board that FSU would guarantee if the state did not renew and that it looked like UF would not. Can anyone confirm this?
Art’s page is back up and he says 219 for Florida is confirmed.
@7thgenTX , my son is a NMF Benacquisto receipient at FSU and I was specifically told in person and via email by the FSU director of admissions that FSU would fund the full COA for my son if the state ever defunded or repealed the scholarship. Not saying brentwoodmom did not get a contradictory opinion from someone at FSU, but I am comfortable with the promise I received.
See my post #535. Once accepted and enrolled, the State of Florida guarantees the scholarship, not the school. It seems the level of understanding of this varies from school to school.
What is the cutoff for Michigan? Can someone please help?

I would suggest getting it in writing from the Florida Office of Student Financial Assistance.
