@BingeWatcher Good luck to your DD with PSAT/NMSQT!!!
What is the status of your DD’s Aug order to NMC? Is it fulfilled?
@whataboutcollege it might mean they haven’t downloaded the score and paired it with the app yet, you can call NMSC on Wednesday and ask about it
@BingeWatcher I’ll be thinking of your daughter in October. I know she’s got this!
I have a question about the application. My dd20 just completed it and on the very bottom there are boxes with abbreviations and numbers. The meaning of some of them seem obvious but I’m curious about the others. For instance, the first four boxes say “Cl” “%Col” “Rank” and “Type”. There are various numbers in each of these boxes. Then, the next boxes appear to be indicating the student’s intended major, career and college choice (“Maj” “Car” and “Col#”). Does anyone happen to know what those first four boxes refer to? It’s pbly not super important but I’m curious.
@3scoutsmom Thanks! I will wait until we get notifications from school or NMC on apps. We are not chasing any NMF scholarship schools so it is not super urgent.
@whataboutcollege it says “waiting on fulfillment” as it says that for the other schools we sent it to.
Hi everyone. I am happy to report that my daughter was notified by her principal last week that she is a NMSF. Her twin sister missed the cutoff by 1 point (we had pretty much prepared for that scenario, so no tears). I just started a separate thread for any parents that would like to share thoughts about the college journey with twins. Here is a link to the thread- I’d love to hear about your challenges and celebrations:

MODERATOR’S NOTE: Feel free to start a separate thread if you want to go off-topic. I deleted quite a few posts about the hurricane.
Back on topic: I called to inquire if our local paper will publish the names of the NMSF’s following the press release on Wednesday. The reporter was super nice, but she said, no, the list was too long. Boo.
Our School still claims they have no information!!!
I haven’t contacted our school but we haven’t heard anything from them.
That’s awful! Ugh.
My D20 has a block in the guidance office and she says they say they don’t know anything yet either. Kind of frustrating because we know the school across town has notified their students.
We haven’t heard anything yet from our school. They are notorious for lack of communication. We know from the Compass published cutoffs that son made it, but haven’t heard from the school. I emailed the counselor last week, but she hasn’t replied. We are chasing merit so it’s frustrating. Will NMSC eventually let us know if the school doesn’t?
I heard from a friend in admin that our school received the list last week but are waiting until Sept. 11.
@18katydid Nope. If the school doesn’t notify your kid after Wednesday, call NMSC. They will help the school get the info to the students if there is a hang-up or a missing piece of mail somewhere.
I wish it wasn’t like this, but that’s how they handle this first round.
Surely they have the letters by now ?!? It’s not like your HS is way off the beaten path. Our principal is guarding any actual information like it’s a state secret but will say that they “typically” inform students the day before it becomes public. So today hopefully.
Ugh. Just called the school counselor and she didn’t know what I was talking about! Said she’d check with the principal and then hung up.
what time tomorrow do y’all think the press release be released?
I think it depends on your state. NMSC doesn’t release the names on its site, I believe it’s up to the individual states to do so.
