Thank you so much @amsunshine !
We’re also at 224 with nothing from the school yet.
FYI – check Art’s blog – he must have seen “the book” or something because he now has confirmed score cutoffs for all states.
@amsunshine Do you have link to Art’s blog. Heard a lot of people mentioning here. Thanks again!
that’s what i will be looking for on wednesday! how did you find that? when i google for it, my results are only the press releases from national merit’s site which do not have names.
i’ll be sure to check that general academic site on wednesday and see if can see the names. as you might have guessed, we are not getting a lot of info from admin at our school.
@border1218 It was not available in the PDF format until recently. The first version available was from Dallas Morning News and it was not a PDF so I had to screenshot the pages.

@janiemiranda Thank you for posting the code for ACT confirming score. We just created an account and the ACT code you shared in July is the one listed there. I sent my daughter’s ACT score to NMS when I was ordering several for other colleges.
NMSC’s Code for Score Reporting:
SAT 0085
ACT 7984
thanks @mavian that helps a lot. i added the words ‘texas’ and ‘pdf’ to my search and found the names.
hopefully, i’ll be able to find his name on wednesday in a press release online if we don’t hear from the school before then. my son has a 225, but i need to see the official notice!!!
I have a question for those of you who have any OOS NMF kids who already enrolled at one of the Florida colleges or know of any who have. What did they do during the recent evacuation/closure of campuses during hurricane Dorian? I’m nervous about the prospect of having my dd go out to start school and then have to evacuate during the following week. Did the kids fly home? Or?
@carmartwinmom
We homeschool, so the system for schools may be different, but I would assume it’s very similar. The letter is for the principal. It lists the names of the students that qualified. In order to get a letter for any given student, the principal/gc/… has to log in, create an account for themselves and only then they can print the student letter. The student letter will contain a temporary login info.
The students may share the info with family only till the press release on Sept 11.
We’re all family here, right?
LOL Must be
So anyone else doing anything crazy over the top to celebrate? Since this is my thrid and last, I’m going overboard. We have a local “sign gypsie” company that puts large display signs in your front lawn and they’ll be putting one up in our front lawn on 9/11/19:-) I might even call the local paper. They always do an article on NMSFs from the local high school but never mention the kids from privates, homeschool or that go out of district.
@3scoutsmom my DD20 would NOT be happy if I did that.
@amsunshine I believe UCF had shelters on campus for those who wanted to use them. I think the dorms there were closed for a few days but you could go to a “shelter” which was some classrooms, apparently. If you want to read more, the UCF Reddit is very helpful for seeing what one side of campus life is like. Warning: it tends to be a bit more alarmist, depressing, and pessimistic than real life for the average student. But, like here, it is educational.

Thank you! I actually did start reading some things on reddit where students were giving various different reactions professors had to the situation as far as assignments, etc. I also found the twitter feeds of the universities (even Miami) to be very informative this afternoon. I feel much more comfortable after reading all this material and getting your feedback. After further research, my dd thinks UF may be the one Benacquisto she may pursue as we’ve just figured out their business school, and especially accounting (her likely major), appear to be ranked really well. She’s applying to a number of other schools as well, so we will see.
@Cheeringsection Guess it’s one of the perks of going to an out of district school, none of his friends live in our town so he’s happy to let me have my fun. I’m sure I’ll get some eye rolls. Now asking him to pose for a picture with the yard sign might be pushing it;-)
Who receives a list of the semifinalists? Obviously there is a press release. Does it get sent to all colleges or just the colleges that pay for it?
Has anyone sent confirming score already? We ordered it as part of June subject test using one of the free scores. It has been 3 months now, the order is still “awaiting fulfillment”. I called Collegeboard about a month ago and was only able to get a case number. No one responded with any update to the case as of yet.
@whataboutcollege , D took the Aug SAT and put National Merit Corp as one of the 4 free choices. But I did not see any codes. Just put in “National Merit” and it came up. D is taking the PSAT/NMSQT next month.
