Same here! Looks like the website is down again. That is not reassuring.
The website is working but it’s very slow and sometimes encountering server timeout. DS is working on it right now and it is slow so he has to wait out.
This morning, I got a question to verify that I am not a robot. So perhaps they’ve been doing some updating to the website and that’s what has been causing the glitches.
Hi! I’m a national merit semifinalist in Texas and am in the process of completing my national merit application. I’m interested in UF and the Benacquisto scholarship, but I am not sure if I should list the school as my first choice or remain undecided. If I choose to put undecided, will this affect me potentially receiving the Benacquisto scholarship? Thanks!
@shru123 I would put undecided because you won’t know if you are accepting to UF till Feb. And my Texas D is taking PSAT with goal of NMF and UF is on our list too.
@BingeWatcher Ok thank you!
Whew – just got an email from GC that the school’s portion has been submitted and we are done! A big relief. Best of luck to everyone!!
Am I the only one still waiting for the school to submit the application? Or is it common for schools to wait to submit applications on the due date? Any suggestions for how to handle getting confirmation that it will be done in time when the school hasn’t responded to our inquiries?
No, you’re not the only one! My DS’s application status on the NMSC portal still shows “Your school official has not transmitted the completed application to NMSC.” I called NMSC yesterday and was told the school’s portion was completed, but not transmitted. So, I emailed the school, and was told they’ve had issues with the National Merit website and NMSC is aware that the issue is on their end. They are currently working on fixing the issue and are not penalizing any students for hold ups on the school’s end due to technical issues from their website. I’m surprised the person I talked to at NMSC did not explain that to me in the first place.
Hope this helps!
DD’s school had not submitted their portion of the application so yesterday I sent her GC an email. Her response was the the director had to confirm the 4 finalists’ applications and would submit them all tomorrow. (so today) I don’t know who the “director” is but I’m hoping this all gets taken care of today. I have no idea why they waited until the last day!
I’m parent of NMSF. Where I can check the status of school submission at NMSC website?
Further update, I have parent access to OSA Login and there I see status as Student Portion is submitted to school and, as parent, I don’t have access to see further progress.
Should I login using student account or call NMSC at this time?
We called National Merit yesterday and found them very thorough over the phone to clarify last minute issues. Ask them for the procedures if your school hasn’t submitted, and they will reassure you.
@sibpuri
You have to use the student’s login to get the status. My d checked and still says school has not transmitted.
At least I know we aren’t alone
@juleval . Thanks. I also called NMSC and they said even though student portion is complete. School admin needs to approve for final submission. So basically still in-process.
There are 67 NMSF from D school (probably highest from Texas?), I hope to see this process completed and confirmed.
@sibpuri is all the NM info from your school input by one person? Our school also has a lot of NMSF and the info is submitted by the GC. Each GC only has a handful to submit.
I called NMSC and confirmed that everything was submitted and that SAT scores were received. I am sure they are getting a lot of calls but they were very helpful.
There seems to be team of GC who prepare school report. But I guess there is lead NMSC school representative that eventually submits for all in one click to approve.
Is the only way to confirm that they received the SAT scores by calling?
I believe so. The College Board does have a message when you log in to indicate whether your order was fulfilled or not. However, we didn’t want to take any chances, and I had my dd call the NMSC to confirm with them that they actually received it. I would think if they don’t have a record of receiving it, you have proof from the College Board that it was sent and they would just need to track it down.
So status on NMSC site shows packet submitted. Can smile now. DD has done ACT already. Is ACT score sent by GC in packet already or we need to send it officially to NMSC?
Also what’s next for parents / students to do if there is anything?
@sibpuri you need to have the ACT score sent from the ACT people just as you would to a college. NMSC has a code (should be with application materials)
