sounds like a good excuse to call them. while you have them on the phone, ask them if my son made scholar. lol.
They aren’t answering phones right now. I called a couple of days ago with a question.
No change for my daughter. Didn’t get it I assume

maybe they haven’t mailed them out or updated the portal on schedule due to the virus (especially since someone says above that they are not answering phones right now).
My D received an email from NMSC with an offer of a $2,500 scholarship at 3:38 pm EST. She did not read the terms yet. She has to reply to the offer by April 8.
With all the disruptions and remote working going on right, it would be remarkable if NMSC were right on schedule with a mass mailing and major portal update.
@kat158 Is it updated on her portal?
After getting the email this afternoon from National Merit we were able to get in. Thanks!
She did not check her portal yet. This is a quote from the NMSC website:
Beginning in March and continuing to mid-June, NMSC notifies approximately 7,600 Finalists at their home addresses that they have been selected to receive a Merit Scholarship® award.
National Merit® $2500 Scholarships: Every Finalist competes for these single-payment scholarships, which are awarded on a state-representational basis. Winners are selected by a committee of college admission officers and high school counselors without consideration of family financial circumstances, college choice, or major and career plans.
Got the email at ~4:30.
Got the scholarship and offer for $2500!! I’m in NC btw
Oh well. I would like to think that maybe emails are delayed for some people, but odds are I didn’t get it.

it is only the “4,100 college-sponsored Merit Scholarship winners” who are “notified May–June 2020.” Corporate sponsored award winners and $2500 award winners are notified in march at home (mailing date today for $2500 winners).
this information can be found on the flowchart on page 5 of “Information about the 2020 National Merit Scholarship Competition” in the portal.
My daughter got the letter with the $2500 award also. She is considering going to FSU or University of Florida with their Benaquisto scholarship. Does accepting this effect her ability to receive scholarships from Universities?
My son received an e-mail at 4:33 pm that he received National Merit $2500 Scholarship.
It feels good, but had he not got the $2,500, he would receive $3,000 from UTD instead (spread across 4 years)
@janiemiranda No accepting this doesn’t effect her ability to receive scholarships from Universities. It may matter for financial aid but not the typical NMF merit
@mathkids Can your son turn this down so that he gets UTDs $3000?
Son got the $2500 NMS offer today that will apply towards MIT costs.
@mathkids Can your son turn this down so that he gets UTDs $3000?
I think the assumption is that he will accept. It would feel wrong, given all that he will get from UTD.
@mathKids Oh that makes sense - I understand why you would want to do that!
oh bummer. he didn’t get an email. oh well. happy to be a finalist. congrats to all who got the $2500 scholar award!
Are emails only going out today? Or is it on a rolling basis?
