Class of 2020 (sharing, venting, etc)

Got my CCM rejection today :’)
I only auditioned 4 days ago…

Sorry.

@lrfmt18 So sorry!

I really meant it. Sorry, I know it hurts. But so much more to come for you. Text on a forum is just not very good for expressing emotion.

I have heard fantastic things about Earlham. Someone said that if it were in the northeast, no one would be able to get in, as it’s on a par with the very top liberal arts colleges in the country. So try not to be too disappointed, if you’re already in at a fabulous school. (Btw, this is the musical theater forum, and I’m not sure the schools you mention have musical theater programs?)

@EmsDad, what I’d really like to see is a similar list for the kids in the MT programs. But I suspect that data is not available. Several places have told us that the scores of the kids in MT are somewhat higher than the averages for their university as a whole. But that’s purely anecdotal.

That is definitely true at CCPA Roosevelt. The Conservatory kids pull the university-wide average up.

Girl me too! I got rejected at CCM like 5 minutes ago. Just remember that CCM had 800 auditionees this year, and they accept around 18. In this insane auditioning season, there are still schools out there. It’s one school. It’s one of the most highly competitive schools and they had more applicants this year than any other. I haven’t auditioned anywhere besides Point Park and CCM, and I got waitlisted for Marymount bc I had to send a digital audition. (Also was accepted to AMDA, but I’m not a fan of the two year idea) So looking forward to unifieds next week, and looking forward to finding a program that fits me. It’s just one school and it’s just a fact that rejection is a huge part of this business so, I’m building a bridge and getting over it.

Such a healthy attitude, @allthatjazz12345. Fingers crossed for you at Unifieds. Add some walk-ins if you need to and if they are available.

Thanks everybody! It was mostly just jarring to receive a rejection that quickly. But, I have 4 more schools to audition for, and 15 left to hear from, so I’m looking on the bright side! At the end of the day, I can only go to one school, so I really only need ONE acceptance!

@lrfmt18 and @allthatjazz12345 so sorry about the rejections.
Love your attitude @lrmt18- you just need one school.

We are nervously checking our mail box and emails. How do schools usually contact applicants with acceptance/rejection/waitliist info?

Thread from last year

For CCM it is by email and the letter itself is found in your application portal.

Thanks @allthatjazz12345, I’ve been only checking my email.

Could someone please post a link to that thread from a prior year of a bunch of schools listed with the date that students were notified, along with what medium they were notified through? I was just looking at it the other day, and now I can’t find it!

@gmo913, here ya go. Just remember that things seem to change from year to year. I guess it keeps everyone on their toes!

Thanks so much!

There seems to be no rhyme or reason to notifications right? I see a trend with March but I know someone who already got accepted to rider. So just depends I guess!

Speaking of Rider, my son got an odd letter in the mail yesterday saying “we are pleased to let you know…that you are being considered for the BFA in MT.” Well, yes, given that he applied and auditioned, I would LIKE to think that he is being considered. So what does that even mean? Why would they go to the trouble to mail such a letter?

I’m not sure @boatmom . I wonder if that’s what the boy we know got?! He said he got in though and think it was an MT acceptance and not just academic. Wonder if that’s just a letter they mail out to those still in the running I guess? Perhaps a rider person can comment …
