I know a few who received “no’s” today from Penn State BFA MT… crickets on our end thank goodness…
Thanks for the info… Much appreciated! As far as I know D hasn’t heard anything but she isn’t near her email at the moment. Looking forward to some good news … Maybe soon … Maybe in a month. It’s hard to wait! I should take up knitting.
@Autmlvs615 you were right! The portal is right back to where it was yesterday!
Just got redirected from Milikin, auditioned for MT BFA and got accepted to BA in theater arts, I really was expecting it, I didnt felt comfortable at my audition at all
Did anyone do a walk-in with Dean College in Chicago? Its a BA but they gave my D an acceptance on the spot and a healthy PA Scholarship…just wondering if anyone else had anything interesting go on with them. I do know the MT director came from Emerson and I have heard good things about their program…but not a lot to go on since they dont have the BFA and they are def not really on the radar.
Does anyone know how Ithaca is notifying? Portal says they have results but doesn’t say what the results are. A friend has the same thing.
My D got a no from Ithaca by mail about a week ago.
Thank you, @emdpraze !
It seems to be random so far. The New School called - he auditioned in December on campus - but the rest has been a mix of emails and letters. If there was something in a portal or acceptd my son received an email alerting him to check. But it still pretty early on to get notification at most schools. The wait is painful.
@craz4mtsmom I did a walk in too in Chicago and also got an acceptance and the scholarship, I was doing a couple of other auditions near Dean college and I saw several people getting out of the room with the same scholarship, I saw about 10 or more people with the same scholarship
@HappyDancer98 - my daughter’s friend received a “no” from Penn State.
My heart goes out to all of you involved in this roller coaster ride. I’m sure most of you have had more than your share of ups and downs.
We recently went away and my daughter asked me to make her a CD for the car that included 17 motivational songs that would give her the boost of self confidence for her upcoming audition. I added one song to her list -Firework by Katie Perry. I think it was the Glee version, so it was nostalgic as well as inspirational. I actually started crying when I heard “Maybe a reason why all the doors are closed so you could open one that leads you to the perfect road”. Being rejected and having doors closed prompted my daughter to branch out and find other production companies that appreciated her professionalism.
My daughter applied to only one MT program, even though there is nothing in this world that makes her happier than being on stage, singing her heart out. She’s had a lot of rejection, but that has been peppered with some amazing successes. She figured she would always regret not trying, so at the very last minute, she pieced together the prescreening video for Penn State and sent it in on the last possible day.
She knows it’s a crapshoot and she’s giving it her best shot. That’s all anyone can do!! Of course she’ll be heartbroken if she doesn’t get accepted, but she’s said she knows it doesn’t mean she’s not talented.
I am the eternal optimist, so I’m leaning more towards the mentality of they have to pick a few girls - why can’t she be one of them?
It’s been one hell of a ride with my girl and even with all the negative stuff she went through, I’d still be the first on line to buy a ticket if she did it all over again!!
Best of luck to everyone!!!
@BwayMex thanks I was wondering if it was there way of trying to snag people up…none the less heard they have a pretty good BA with a MT track. Still waiting, we have had no responses yet! My D still has 3 more on campus auditions to go!
we applied in late Dec and got an acceptance in Mid Jan from Buffalo, via snail mail.
@fschil was that an academic acceptance or an MT acceptance? My D got an academic acceptance by snail mail after her audition. Should we be waiting for an artistic acceptance as well?
Looking at portals and wondering if I should read anything into “No Holds” in the Hold section of the Michigan “Friend” portal. Also, Pace portal says - final decision made and on its way…" But don’t know if that is for MT decision or academic decision (which was received a while ago). Any guidance during this very long process is appreciated. My D has three more on campus auditions to go.
Pretty sure that’s just academic
@PickALittle I think that Michigan’s means that there are no pending documents needed by admissions (like transcripts) and that Pace’s notice means academic (even if it was already received a while ago) - most schools are still auditioning this coming weekend, so I suspect it will be closer to the end of February/beginning of March before most notices go out - a difficult couple of weeks of waiting, to say the least…
Pace is definitely academic.
Thank you! @LifeIsAMusical and @GSOMTMom! Time sure seems to be standing still.
Speaking of Pace, D is getting all kinds of e-mails from them about welcoming to the class of 2020 and acceptance to honors, etc. However, there is no ‘official’ acceptance (academic only, I know) letter is in her hands. It was supposed to be mailed already. Do we need to call to ask for the status? I read somewhere the program acceptance wouldn’t be given unless academically accepted. I didn’t want some glitches negatively affect the program acceptance decision.
