Class of 2020 (sharing, venting, etc)

Agreed, @toowonderful! That’s what I was trying to say, but you did it much more eloquently (and pithily)!

I don’t know if this is correct, but somewhere else I read that the person in question was accepted to a music therapy program, not musical theater?

I know how little tidbits of info drove me insane last year, so I will post what I know about the U of M MT situation.

On social media, there has been a girl who has been congratulated for securing a spot in University of Michigan’s Musical Theatre program. This particular girl has not been accepted into the MT program - but in the Bachelor of Music, Musical Education program that is within the School of Music, Theatre & Dance. She has not corrected any of the congrats on “acceptance into Musical Theatre Program” but she knows (without a doubt) that her acceptance is Music Ed.

Is this the same girl that has been referred to by other people on here? Perhaps.

There has been another post in this thread on CC, that originally said there was a girl that was accepted to U of Mich’s MT program and she auditioned as a walk in because she knew the auditor. (My personal opinion: pull this leg and it plays Jingle Bells … but I digress.)

There are a couple of other U of M Acceptance posts here on CC - on in the Theatre Major board that said their daughter was accepted into the MT program. And then another one (same poster) that was originally posted in this forum but then edited with nonsensical stuff and moved into the Yale 2018 forum.

@KaKaMom, no worries. We stressed-out mothers deserve to be messed with for being so obsessively involved in our kids’ decisions! Give up the crystal balls and tea-cups - just wait for your envelopes, folks.

I asked the poster on the theater thread if they meant “University of Michigan” we will see if they respond… who knows

@sleepymom - What a stressful situation - so sorry - that’s so tough on your D. I guess I had the luxury of reading your saga while I was at work and couldn’t check the portal and possibly missed out on the same computer crossed signals. A “no” here too. The whole “hold” situation and will notify by dates that kept changing made this particular wait for a notification way more stressful than any of the others have been. In some ways I’m glad it’s now done with.

@soozievt - absolutely - just comparing that one moment each day opening the mailbox, seeking a large envelope, as was largely the scenario for my oldest son, just four years ago (from memory only one notification came via email then – this was for “regular” admissions) = so much less “looming” overall.

@rampions Sorry to hear that!! Hugs to you and D.

@destiny95 Thanks so much! As always, onwards - for all of us.

@rampions we are right there with you! This was a wild ride! Moving on!

Got the official “No” from Pace. This is a hard one. I think we are going for a record here folks.

Fingers, toes, elbows, ankles crossed for everyone. Hang in there. It ain’t over till some lady sings.

Sorry @stagedoormama – did it come by mail? Hang in there you just need 1!!

sorry @stagedoormama! Fingers crossed for you!

I think this whole thing just reiterates my opinion that social media will be the death of us all…too much communication…
Dreading this next year…

Go Sparty!! Go Green!!

@mtmamma2020 - Yes snail mail.

Walk-ins may seem unfair, but are part of the process. The thing is that you don’t know if a school will have an opening until you get to Unifieds.

On another note, I read in the Wright State thread that results will go out this week in small envelopes via snail mail. THANK YOU, Wright State! Classy. Now, if we can just keep the dog in so we can get our mail … :)))

And I’m with you @KaMaMom. Shenanigans! It’s March … Leprechauns are on the loose…

@stagedoormama so sorry to hear that :c if you don’t mind me asking, when did your D/S audition?

@SammieMT - On Campus, Jan 22nd.
