Class of 2020 (sharing, venting, etc)

Yes, Wesleyan is super rigorous academically. It will get candidates who also apply to Vassar, Tufts, Brown, Skidmore (as a safety), Brandeis, Yale, Harvard, Columbia and maybe NYU. It is very strong in theatre, film and English. SAT range is about 620 to 740 for both Verbal and Math. 29 to 33 for ACT (25th to 75th percentiles). It is financially generous for those with need (meets 100% of need.) No merit aid for those without need.

@Dankadon it was for someone named Emma

Lots of OU calls went out today!

I auditioned for Montclair in Chicago, is it too late to send them a thank you email? I still havn’t heard back from them yet and typically for rolling schools no news is good news. I was thinking sending them a note or email to let them know Montclair is still my top choice.

In my opinion it is never too late to send a thank you note!

Can I ask why you think that with rolling schools no news is typically good news? We’re finding it hard not to look at it as bad news when others from the same audition date have received acceptances days or even weeks ago. Thanks for any insight!

@Fotokat
My rationale may be partially just a way to not be discouraged but the way I see it is that it’s like getting put on hold for CCM. If you didn’t hear anything yet that means you are still in the running and they weren’t immediatly disinterested.

I agree w that concept for rolling admissions…I know it is true for Indiana prospective music majors. They accept and reject the people they are certain about within 3-4 weeks after auditions. The others are put on hold until after all auditions are complete (they are not notified of anything until their admissions decision).

Taking a breath. Nothing news related usually happens on Saturday’s right?

Does anyone have input on the Ball State program? I have heard it is excellent but can be overly demanding, especially on young freshmen. I have heard that there is quite a lot of burnout as a result. What about the dorms, food, etc. Thank you!

@ohmtmom - I can put you in touch with a 2014 grad, if no one on the board has a current student in program.

Anyone accepted to CCU- feel free to reach out to me via PM! And like our Department of Theatre facebook page. I am happy to answer any questions from the perspective of an alumni, a student worker, someone currently working in NYC- etc. And congratulations to everyone on their acceptances!

@ohmtmom I know @Divamamacita has a current freshman.

Anyone know when Elon calls are going out?

@ohmtmom I don’t know if she’s active much on here but @MrsDrz has a senior there and could give you info about Ball St. MT. If she doesn’t chime in here, try sending a message to that screen name. If no response, PM me and I’ll reach out to her on your behalf.

@mtmamma2020 last year was 3/15 for Elon phone calls. BAL

But Elon did go out on a Sunday last year…

My daughter still hasn’t heard from BW, which at least isn’t a rejection! She is back on campus after spring break, I suggested she stop by Vicky Bussert’s office sometime today, but she is worried that it would be insulting, which…I don’t quite understand. They told all the kids they would hear by March 10, and she hasn’t heard one way or the other yet. (She said that her friends and fellow current BW students who auditioned also have not heard anything yet).

Anyone know any news on Miami?

Any news on Elon??

@MTMOM16 we haven’t heard a peep from or about Elon. All our fingers and toes are still crossed! :slight_smile:
