For Fall 2017 the acceptance rate was 27% and they were over 300 students over enrolled. NU In was also over enrolled. My guess is that the acceptance rate will go down.
Are we thinking Thursday is the day? My son is in finals the next two weeks, I’m not saying a word (just counting the minutes)!
ED1 decisions are out Dec 15th. It’s stated on the applicant’s portal.
"Thank you for applying to Northeastern University. We look forward to reviewing your application as an Early Decision applicant. Please note the following information:
-As an Early Decision applicant, you will receive your admissions decision by December 15, 2017.
-Possible decisions include: Admit for fall, Admit to N.U.in Program, Defer to Regular Decision or Deny.
-If applicable, any scholarship and/or honors program information will be released with your decision."
I think “BY December 15” means that the results might come out sooner than that
Ha, spot on! That does make things interesting!! There will be obsessive check ins on the portal between now and the15th…
It looks like they released ED and EA around 12/15 last year from the previous year blog. Has anyone heard if that’s true this time? For EA, they say by Feb 1 on their site. It would be great if they released them around same time.
Last year they released them (ED) on Thursday, 12/8 (I followed that thread a little too closely!) that was why I was hoping they would be out this Thursday.
You were super helpful with the NEU info, thanks
I am still hoping they come out this week - very anxious in our household.
PSH- we might have to exchange emails and calm each other until then!
Totally agree on the beginning of the theory, but I’m not sure that yield factors into US News rankings. However, I do agree that the goal is to increase yield - so they are using ED2 to improve that. Bringing in the best kids from the ED1/ED2 that really want to be at NEU. That means that EA and RD admit rates will come down - which makes them look better in the rankings, driving up applications, which reduces the admit rate.
@suzyQ7 Yield rate does not factor into the USNews rankings but it is reported in the disclosure to Moody’s for bond rating purposes. That is the real importance of the statistic.
Do you think decisions will come out on the 8th? They were released on the 8th last year and I believe around that same time in 2015…
Decisions have never come out on a Friday. It could be tomorrow, or next week.
Which do you think is more likely?
I
My counselor informed me that the decisions will be released tonight
Where did your counselor get the information?
My son’s guidance counselor received an email indicating that decisions are tonight at seven.
@Limeshoe are you from the northeast? How does your counselor know?
