@Alcoka1 You’ve got me starting my summer research! I thought of looking for/starting a new thread for this but I’m sure everyone on this thread is the target audience and probably a wealth of information. Please chime in if you have any suggestions for summer MT programs. The great American songbook academy looks fantastic, it’s just far for us. We’re about an hour north of NYC. My D has been to Hartt’s MT Intensive and loved it. Broadway Training Center in Hastings-on-Hudson, NY has a great 2-week teen (commuters only) intensive in August (which is nice b/c so few programs run in August).
@EastchesterMom someone has already started an acceptance thread. My son applied to VP and MT programs, but was not required to create a repertoire list for the VP program at BW or UM… just a complete list of performance opportunities. He did not go as far back as early elementary school, but included professional work from middle school. I hope this helps.
Does anyone know if Elon decisions went out today?
@anotherBwaymom Last year, phone calls were made before the Early Action acceptances were announced. This year, EA decisions are announced on 12/20. HTH
Was it several days before that the calls were made? My daughter heard that someone was called today. That is quite a bit earlier than the 20th?
Last year, my daughter received a call on a Thursday and the University released their EA academic decisions the following Tuesday. No idea how many days it took to contact those who were artistically accepted.
Thanks!! @fourfoxes that’s very helpful
@NYart15 my S never completed any intensive summer programs. I’ve heard great things about programs at UM and BW, but have no personal experience.
My D went to BW’s CSI summer program this past summer and I cannot say enough about how amazing it was! I will be honest - she auditioned for the Overtures program and was not accepted but they offered her a spot in the CSI summer conservatory for vocal performance/ choral arts. She attended and also did the college audition preparatory class (for rising seniors) and the MT track as her elective during CSI. At the end they had an MT night of performances that families could attend and the next day was the band/ orchestral / choral performances. She learned SO much- the classes were wonderful with all BW professors. - and you get private voice too! We can’t say enough good things about this program! So many talented kids in the instrumental and choral tracks and passionate, challenging, caring instructors. All of the RA/ counselors are BW conservatory students- and they were awesome! She was disappointed at first about the rejection from overtures, but we feel the CSI program was perfect and it ended up being exactly where she was supposed to be. She made a few friends in the MT track who are now all still in touch with each other as they all are auditioning for MT programs for colleges. If anyone has specific questions please let us know - but I rate that experience with an A+
Thanks @mommafaria and @savedrama4momma !!
We had the same experience at the Rider dance call at NY Unifieds.
Speaking of Rider, has anyone had a response from their pre-sceens yet? D submitted on Nov. 27th. Still no word and no change in portal (still says Ready for Review.)
@collegemom2000 my D was notified she passed the Rider prescreen about a week or so ago
@MThopeful2022 Thanks. Do you know when she submitted? I’m starting to wonder if my D has fallen into a black hole. Also have been waiting about 3 weeks for Shenandoah.

@collegemom2000 Application & prescreens went in around 11/17. Academic acceptance came on 12/8. We’re still waiting on Shenandoah too…and Ithaca…and a bunch of others (sigh)…
@MThopeful2022 hopefully that means they are taking a good amount of time reviewing all of the material. Some schools come back so fast I have to wonder how much of the screens they bothered to watch.
@MThopeful2022 So, I just found out my son’s Syracuse prescreen acceptance went to his spam folder (which he apparently never checks), and now, Syracuse is down to a single day of auditions (which conflicts with his auditions already scheduled for NYUnifieds. So, check spam folders.
A question to everyone else: is it worth it to whine to Syracuse about the spam folder and ask them to allow him to get on a waitlist for Chicago or LA?
@Neuroticdad thanks. We’ve checked spam and nothing is there. Rider portal still states “ready for review” so I’m guessing it hasn’t even been looked at. I guess if there are no options left regarding Syracuse, a letter asking to waitlist couldn’t hurt. The worst they can do is say “no.”
