Class of 2022 (the journey); sharing, venting, discussing

If you’re considering SUNY’s, add Fredonia. It’s about 45 minutes from Buffalo and is known for its performing arts programs. It has BFA’s in MT, Acting, Theater Tech and Production and, I believe, Dance and I believe auditions are still open.

@owensfolks my S has two auditions left, UM on Jan 19 and CM on Jan 27. He chose to drop auditions at NYU, Pace and Ithaca after being accepted at BW in December.

@NewEngMTDad I would definitely check out Hart School as many of their students get regional contracts in the Northeast. You may also consider Texas State, if the deadline has not passed

Break legs to your son, @mommafaria ! How awesome that he will be done in 3 weeks!

We have Wright State 1/21 and Shenandoah 1/27, Christopher Newport 2/3 then we head to Chicago. Gearing up for this busy and exciting month ahead!!!

Break legs, @savedrama4momma ! We have Shenandoah 2/24, so let us know how it goes.

@NewEngMTDad another school you may want to consider adding , Kent State U has a BFA MT & they have 2 auditions still in March .( Rolling admissions to apply to the school itself). My D is a freshman MT there.

Roosevelt CCPA doesn’t require a prescreen and will be at Unifieds. We got an audition slot fairly late in our process, four years ago, wouldn’t hurt to check.

@owensfolks, we will see you and your D at FSU on the 27th! We had BOCO this past weekend and NYU this coming weekend.

My S has Coastal Carolina and UNCSA this weekend. Four next weekend at NY Unifieds, Shenandoah on 1/27 and onto Chicago for another four. Then there is an Ohio weekend in February and potentially adding in Elon at the end of February if he passes the prescreen… Let the games begin!! Break legs to all of our kids! May they all stay healthy and we stay sane:) Vitamin C for the kids and wine for the parents should help;)

D heading to Penn State this weekend; CCM on 1/27; Chicago Unifieds, then BW, CMU, Kent. Last audition date as of now is March 3!

Question - Rider has a dance audition listed as “optional” at NY Unified. It is at 7:30pm. My S audition is in the morning. If my S is not a dancer does it make sense to attend the evening dance audition?

Is Rider a top choice for him? If yes, I would definitely do the dance call. They took a really large class last year so I have heard they will be accepting a lower number this year which is likely why they implemented prescreens for the first time. The impression my daughter got last year was that while dance wasn’t a make or break, it was an important consideration for MTs. They do have a strong dance department and it would probably be good for your son to just go and show that he is a good mover if not necessarily a dancer. Since his audition is in the morning, he could always ask when he checks in what the expectation is - I would ask someone at the check in table though, not the auditors in his audition.

We are gearing up for the craziness. Texas State this weekend, ACU 1/26. OKCU 2/2, Central Michigan 2/3,Chicago Unifiedsn2/4-2/8 where D will audition for Roosevelt, Point Park, Hartt, Webster, Ball State, NWU, Viterbo, UWSP, Ithaca and LIU, University of Oklahoma on 2/16, BW on 2/24 and finishing up with Sam Houston on 3/2. Break legs to all! Praying for all to stay healthy through the craziness and a bad flu season.

D has 5 this month, 3 in Feb and 1 in March. Still waiting to hear back from 3 schools. I pray that D stays healthy for thru all the stress…she always gets a cold or sore throat at the worst possible times (like before an aud, opening night…lol). Hope everyone is taking their vitamins and getting rest!!

All-Please post audition reports, and BAL! Sincerely rooting for all of our kids.

@belleforbroadway did you submit a video to OU, or do a regional audition? We have still not heard back from them

ginag01893 We saw OU at DSM College Audition Prep Weekend in August and my daughter got an on-campus call-back from that so we heard back a long time ago. Sorry I can't be more helpful. This waiting game is rough!

No worries. BAL to you and your daughter!

I’m grateful for everything I’m learning from this group! My daughter and I are doing this on our own and learning as we go.

But, sigh
