Class of 2023 Admissions Decisions / Discussion - University of Delaware

@DCNatFan and @blueskies12 you should get email any day now. D application had all app requirements checked off as received by 10/29 and she received the email 11/30. (business major)

@blueskies12 - S19’s application was held up by items sent by school. He received an email telling him what was missing. Once everything was submitted - green checks marked off everything and received date listed for each item. S19 called and confirmed application was complete at that point but did not receive the “application complete and under review” till Friday 11/16. His major disappeared on Wednesday 11/21 and then he was admitted later that night. Based on other posts in this thread - I would assume the next batches will be students with applications complete closer to the end of October. BUT - I have heard of kids last year that never heard back till much later. Also, it does seem to be more OOS kids posting acceptances at this time.

Application complete (once school sent the transcript) on 10/23. Email saying application is under review on 11/20. Major not removed, no link to change major. It sounds like timing was just after people from the last batch. Hoping daughter will hear back in the next batch soon.

@GmanCC forgot to mention, the link below is also included and he’s considering the change.
:frowning:
“Interested in changing your major?
Submit a change of major request.”

Everyone who has been accepted also got the “Interested in changing your major?”

Hi! Applied mid October, transcripts, recs, etc sent in mid November. Received email that application is “complete and under review” on 11/22. Nothing in portal has changed. Thoughts on when I will hear back? Applied nursing but have psychology as a second choice major. What are some stats of other nursing majors (that have been accepted)?
Stats:
ACT: did not take
SAT: 1310
WGPA: 3.92
Lots of extracurriculars
State: MA

MODERATOR’S NOTE: Since there is no separate discussion thread, I edited the title to make it a Decisions and Discussion thread.

My S got his letter confirming application today - just as many of you predicted ??

For those accepted
What is the process for housing? S19 and I went to Open House, and we found South Academy and Louis Redding Halls to be very nice - like brand new. The other dorms seemed more like Army barracks. Has anyone accepted their offer or made a housing deposit? Is it first come, first served?

@stem2017 when we toured I asked if all the dorms were air conditioned. Our student guide very quietly said that they are working on it. If it is first come first served I would act quickly. haha

@md2384 The difference between the old and new dorms was vast.

I told S19, assume you’ll get the crappy old dorm, and you’ll be pleasantly surprised if you get the new one.

Has anyone who has been accepted already received their merit awards within this past week? I was accepted on 11/9 and I’ve been checking the portal 1000 times per day but still haven’t heard anything

@STEM2017 I think I remember them saying it is a lottery but double check. Our tour guide lived without air conditioning freshman year but was still gung ho about the dorm being great.

@am2727 - still nothing here for merit - my D was accepted 11/2 - waiting
sigh

Checked D19 portal today and noticed it now shows the option to change major. The option was not there yesterday. Still no emailing about application being complete and under review.

Will a 1200 get me in

@DCNatFan A similar thing happened last week, with decisions coming within the next day. Still no movement on my daughter’s application. She had everything in on Oct 23 and received the application complete message on Nov. 22. She does not have the “change major” option on the portal.

@DCNatFan -My daughter’s portal did the same thing last night, but she did receive her “application complete” email last Wed. (11/28) I’m a bit concerned, because there are many people that are getting accepted that never rec’d that on their portal. ?

@md2384 @STEM2017 My DS1 is a junior. All dorms are not AC. Housing assignment is NOT first come, first served for freshman. Putting down a deposit early will not move you up the food chain. Housing is in flux as The Towers will be decommissioned at the end of the current school year. Honors students are guaranteed AC as they are all in Redding. After that, it’s lottery by type of housing requested. AC is not the be all, end all. The windows don’t open in those dorms, so you are sealed off from the world the whole year. But this was a really hot fall, so the non ACs did suffer. Some slept in lounges that have AC. Life is a mixed bag.

@Sparcky Very helpful, thanks!
