My apologies but I have been struggling to follow some of the chains of conversations regarding some of the schools that are still outstanding and/or trickling in (I’m looking at you Pace!).
It seems that there are some instances when people are advocating to reach out to a school. For instance, Montclair - my D was accepted academically back in early fall and auditioned at Chicago Unifieds, but no word on artistic. It is listed as rolling on some of the brilliant summaries in this thread but we’ve heard no word. Any ideas?
We’re still waiting for 6 responses and it is really tough to plan college visits with the waiting! To complicate, my D’s spring musical is not until the second weekend of April so we’ll have a very limited window to make visits happen. . . and we haven’t laid eyes on either of the 2 schools where she has been accepted!
@MTBackstagemom Re Montclair. We didn’t get any notification for Montclair MT. We checked the portal and there was a letter. We are also wtg on Montclair Acting, and called school last week. Montclair said those responses are coming next week. The also said if you don’t here by next week than call back.
I don’t know if anyone is in this situation but last year we had one week in which my D could visit schools and we only heard the final BFA decision 2 days before our plane left… We’re on the west coast and all of her schools were on the east coast so I booked RT flights to NY for that one week, booked tours of the NY schools at the beginning of the trip and left the other days open for quick day trips to other cities (Boston, DC, Pittsburgh and Philly are all 1-2 hour flights from NYC and short notice flights are reasonable. I figured it was better to be centrally located and leave the final scheduling to last minute when all the results were in.
@CaMom13 The timing of decisions sure makes it difficult to schedule, that’s for sure, and more expensive. We are on the East Coast so it’s a bit easier.
Thanks for the support here - it’s so helpful to know we’re in the same boat!!
We’re also on the east coast, although ironically one of my daughter’s acceptances is Viterbo so WAY outside of the east coast /barely midwest spectrum we started with! That is partially what is challenging our visit schedule since the others we’re waiting to hear from are all clustered on the east coast. I joked that she would only get accepted to places that she auditioned with at Unifieds rather than those we went to audition - so far I’ve been dead on!
@FROG65, re: Montclair, no luck with the portal, it was last updated in November with her acceptance, but thanks! I guess we’ll give it another week or so and then see where we are at that point. Thanks for the suggestion!
The other challenge with the visits is trying to do it around spring break so she misses less school - the audition process is already rough on school attendance, we’re trying to minimize the extra days at this point!
@MTBackstagemom regarding Montclair we are the same as you. Last updated with D’s acceptance in Nov with nothing new since auditioning at NY Unifieds…ugh!
@MTBackstagemom@KBreedlove We are also waiting on Montclair. Someone posted that you must complete the two forms: "OOS National Student Scholarship Contract "& “Will you become a Red Hawk?” before they will post your decision. We did it Friday so I will let you know if it worked.
anyone know how many students West/Conn takes/how big their class size is? (Received my acceptance today and trying to learn some more about the program)
Re: the Montclair comments - was your child already academically accepted? My D was a walkin in LA and all her Montclair page shows is what items were due for the application and when they were received. Do you have to be academically accepted to go that one step forward to the documents your reference? Or am I missing something on her app status page? Thanks for the help!!
Got the no confirmation from FSU. Was hoping for a alternate spot. Also, called Montclair about no academic acceptance yet despite sending in app in Nov. They said it’s in review which is what they told me weeks ago. Not sure what the hold up is. I said I was concerned about it holding up her artistic answer and they said it wouldn’t… How col did not?
@MThopeful99 I’m from CT. WestConn’s program is definitely an up and coming gem. In Danbury, near enough to NYC for them to draw some great guest instructors, with a new 8 million dollar performing arts facility and some quality instructors. Their productions are top notch. Definitely worth serious consideration.
@MTMom2019 we are out of state but it is not there. I did see info on it but no form available. She was academically accepted back in November, so I have no clue!
