Besides distinguished scholars (about 100), the highest is $17,000. Distinguished scholars get more, maybe 10 full rides. My daughter’s friend was invited to the weekend (2nd in her class, my daughter was 8th and got $17,000). Dd21 only got $15,000 since they switched over to gpa instead of test score.
Everyone invited to DS get more. D18 went and ended up with 24 or 26K total, But she decided to go to Clemson instead. If she had gotten one of the full rides we would have had a different conversation.
I know the web site says 17,000 is their highest merit but my son received 19,000. Not sure why he got the extra 2,000.
My daughter accepted 12/25 and received merit 1/7. Only 2k/year. Very disappointed. OOS 4.2 unweighted, AP’s, clubs, EC’s but no test scores so maybe that’s why.
I thought the highest possible unweighted gpa was 4.0, straight A’s? The did say they were recalculating gps’s, but I’m not sure how.
It’s funny that you posted this, because when I read your previous post I thought maybe it was a typo, as I haven’t seen anyone else post an amount over $17k/year. Glad to hear I was mistaken though, and huge congrats to your son! Sounds like they must think pretty highly of him.
I applied on December 1st but still have not heard back. Should I be worried? When should I expect a decision?
Date change on daughter’s portal today to 1/15/21. Hoping to hear about Honors College.
What do you mean by date change. Waiting on honors as well.
What do you mean by date change
Sorry, when you log into the portal under Status update, the decision released date changed from when she was accepted on 12/11 to 1/15/21. Hoping this means we will find out this Friday.
Got it. Thanks for clarifying. Best of luck!!
Best of luck to you as well!
Ours says decision date too of 1/15/21. Hope it’s a positive honors decision too. Good luck to all.
Good luck everyone! That is exactly how we found out our son was accepted to the HC. On Jan 7th it said updated Jan 8th. At about 4 pm on Jan 8th the portal showed he was accepted. There was never an email, but he did receive an invitation via snail mail.
Thanks. Is it a separate letter letting you know that your child was accepted to honors or was it an update to your acceptance letter?
The HC letter received via snail mail only addresses the acceptance to the HC and is encased in an HC promotional folder. He never received an email saying there was an update to the portal.
On the portal it allowed him to click on the HC acceptance letter and when you scroll down under the HC section it changed from saying your application is being reviewed to saying you have been accepted. The HC acceptance came several weeks after the initial acceptance.
Best of luck to everyone!
My son just received a letter that he was declined admission because he did not have 2 years of a foreign language. He did, but because he took French 1 in 8 th and French 2 in 9 grade they won’t accept it. Even though he earned high school credit for French 1. I have never heard anything so ridiculous. He has a 4.02 gpa and a 1390 on his SAT’s. Luckily he has been accepted to Rutgers and Rowan, along with 7 other schools. We are OOS, they missed out on a great student that would have been paying out of state tuition. It’s a shame because UD was high up on his list.
Maybe call them ? maybe speak to the person that is the admissions person assigned to your son to explain this
