My school didn’t offer AP’s. But here are the honors and Dual Enrollment classes I’ve taken:
Honors: US History, English 11, British Lit, Econ, Civics
Dual Enrollment: Health, Precalc, Trig, History of Rock, Intro to Chem and Lab (separate classes), Human Bio, Stats, Controversial Legal Issues, History of Photography, Intro to Philosophy, and then 5ish PE classes.
I transferred schools for 11th and 12th grade, so I only took regular level classes in 9th and 10th. Maybe that’s why? Even then, I kept a 4.0. I’ll definitely call though!
Altoona is a nice residential campus - and it’s good for nursing (direct entry and all 4 years there).
However Altoona when one lives OOS and has presumably much less expensive choices in their home state doesn’t make sense financially - all states have decent directionals or cheaper alternatives. An exception is Direct Entry Nursing, which is rare in some states, and worth it.
As for OOS offers such as Schuylkill, it means they just went with whatever the applicant checked on their application, knowing full well an OOS applicant in their right mind wouldn’t have checked that if they’d taken the time to actually read about the branch campuses and thus is unlikely to come.
Is your college GPA (through dual enrollment) a 4.0 too?
Health, Civics, and PE wouldn’t count.
But you’d have 13 Honors/DE classes + Honors History/English/Econ and DE History, Stats, Legal Issues, and Philosophy would all line up with your choice of major, so the decision remains puzzling, in terms of rigor you’d be OK for poli sci and UP.
What level foreign language did you get to? 3? 4? 5? (3 would be a minimum but for CLA 4 years is much better, in the same way precalc is mandatory for STEM majors but they prefer calc.)
Did your new school indicate (or did you indicate clearly on the SRAR) what classes were Honors, what classes were Dual Enrollment?
My school doesn’t give just my college GPA. They just give us our HS and College mixed. On a 4.0 scale, it was a 3.85. I’ve only ever had 2 B’s and that was in Trig and Precalc. I took 3 years of Russian, and received A’s all years. I double-checked all my classes when I inputted them into the portal (and even had my counselor and mom check it) so I’m sure it was correct. Either way, I’ll definitely call and see what happened.
I applied to Penn State EA and was accepted into my second choice campus (Abington)- my first choice was UP. I did not choose summer start
Here are my stats/other info
-OOS
-1340 SAT
-4.0 W GPA
-Accepted to Smeal for Accounting
-ECs include volunteering, president/board positions of a competitive club, work experience, participation in a selective and free summer program relating to business through Kelley @IU
-I also will have taken 8 business classes by the time I graduate
I’m extremely disappointed that I wasn’t accepted into UP. As a business major, it’s important that I go to a bigger school to make those connections and meet new people. Do I change my major? I’m not sure what to do, but I would love it if they’d place me into UP.
I suggest reaching out to the department and inquire. The school was created in 2015 (presumably branching off from the College of Engineering) and maybe they are currently pursuing accreditation with ABET for the academic degree programs.
CSE= Computer Engineering, CS= Computer Science. They’re not the same degree at all, although some courses overlap, especially in the 1st year. ABET only matters for Engineering and thus for Computer Engineering.
Yes got it , Computer Engineering is totally different more about Microprocessors, CPU chip design more towards hardware side etc very different from Comp Science more geared towards software side if it
