@CSJA2025@mlk75 It is still 2 1/2 weeks before you’ve been promised a decision. They are not late (yet). As many have explained, it feels like a random number generator whose application gets reviewed first. My D reminded me last year she was salty because a friends got in before she did - who applied later, had worse grades, SAT, and rigor and was in the same college. And my D was a legacy and the other kid was not. No one would remember had it not come up on a social media “remember when” post.
The best thing you can do is take a deep breath and busy yourself elsewhere. Not hearing does not equal denial. It just means not hearing.
Thanks for all the great info. The comment was made to me during a casual conversation which more so centered around already accepted OOS students with six figure EFCs who, among others in an affluent town are waiting on their ED decision from privates/ivies. It’s great they got early word from PSU, but for them it was always a safety and not their first choice. This was in no way a long, drawn out conversation regarding privileged information that dug deep into the inner workings of the acceptance process.
My D got accepted into Altoona for Nursing. Looking hard at three other schools along with Altoona. If they don’t offer any aid whatsoever, we’ll probably cull PSU from the list. Very disappointed. She has always dreamed of going to PSU.
Guys I need help. I submitted my application in late September, my counselor report was downloaded in late september and my teachers submitted my recs in mid to late october but apparently my mom called Penn state and they said I was in the regular pool? Why would this be when I applied for rolling in September? I thought I met all the deadlines and now I am really upset. Any insights?
They downloaded my application september 24th, they downloaded my transcript and counselor LOR september 24th. Then they downloaded one teacher rec october 15th and the other one on october 27th. I did rolling because I thought no matter if you applied rolling or early before like NOV 1 you’d be considered priority. I’ve seen people on this thread who applied rolling after me and have gotten decisions so are they considered early? What makes me any different?
You applied Rolling with your application complete before December 1st. All this means is that you are guaranteed an answer by January 31st. If you wanted an answer by Dec 24th, you should have applied Early Action. How and when they release individual decisions is random. You’ll have an answer by January 31st.
“I’ve seen people on this thread who applied rolling after me and have gotten decisions.”
Question though: what about the people on this thread who applied rolling before dec 1 are they just getting decisions early compared to the january 31st date? I didn’t even really want to do rolling but my mom told me I should so I could get a decision under my belt early on so I did. Ugh I want to cry lol but I’ve been checking my portal everyday for like 6 weeks in anticipation because I thought I’d hear before December. I guess my mom interpreted the deadlines incorrectly but this really sucks. Thanks for your help though
Ok guys I had my dad call PSU Admissions, I’m a baby I know, and he said I’ll hear back before decemeber 24th! Sorry for having like a mini breakdown in this thread. The stress of all of this just got to me I guess. Hopefully it is true that I have been moved to early! Thank you guys for all the help
Has anyone heard back in the last few days / heard of someone else who’s heard back? No one has posted anything in the here or the decisions thread for the last two days…
Your situation sounded very stressful so seriously don’t worry about talking about it on here! Everyone on here is nice and here to help:) Wishing you and the rest of us good luck, and hopefully we will all hear soon (fingers crossed).
Glad it worked out. Everything about this process is stressful. I think having decisions come in random waves only adds to that stress for many students as they don’t understand why they haven’t heard.
I agree completely. I am very disappointed with the way PSU is handling admissions. I almost wish they had a “decision” day so you didn’t have to keep checking the portal or watching people get accepted with lower stats leaving you to wonder what’s going on.
I wouldn’t worry too much. Just because you haven’t heard back yet does not mean that you have been denied. The admissions office is probably still reviewing your application.
