I've never been curious about my class rank in the past, but today in my class me and some others were discussing report cards (just came out) and the subject of GPAs and class rank came up. One of the kids said he has a 4.6 and is rank 7. He's never had a B (all As)

I just got my first B last semester, but I have a 4.7; We're in the same classes pretty much except I'm a year ahead in math because I took Alg II online. The thing is, I got my B in PreCalc which is unweighted, so it makes me wonder why I'm higher than him.

Whatever it is, it's pretty cool to know that I'm at least rank 6 in the class. I always figured it was like 50 people tied at rank 1 because of straight As, but it looks like a lot less have them than I had thought.

Interesting stuff.

I guess you can turn this into a class rank discussion now :P

this yr my GPA is goin down the drain i think......frosh and soph yrs combined i had 4.8...which got me somewhere around 7 i think rank wise. counting THIS, oh i don't know...i'm scared. i'm doin very poorly...

Well, my rank went down 2 spots even though my GPA went up 4/10ths of a point. I'm now number 7 and I have a 94.55 GPA, but from my rank to like number 15 it's all in the 94s....the person who's number 14 is 94.1, and that was my original GPA in the beginning of senior year!

Our school doesn't rank anymore. I used to be 16, but since then my GPA's gone down, mainly thanks to AP Chem. Good thing we don't report it anymore :)

I'm unranked, but my average is something incredibly inflated, like 104...

as it is, top 10% in my school (we went from 240 people to about 150ish and decreasing a lot this year too, just 3 people this week junior year), will end up being people have gotten A's in all (or one less than all) honors courses and are in music honors for the most possible (got over 85 on midterm AND final, 90 and above to stay in honors class etc), or in all honors courses and art.

in layman's terms, it means that about 12-15 people have around 100 weighted averages, and the differences are between 100-106.

I have a 4.901 weighted (4.0 UW) and am val out of 350ish for both UW and weighted. Still got deferred from MIT though. Makes you think all that hard work trying to stay at top was not good enough eh.

My county pretty much does the following:
8 points higher GPA for honors, 16 for AP... and anything above a 96 in a class is all equal (Standard >=96=4.0, Honors >=96=5.0, AP >=96=6.0)

Meaning that a 96 or above in any standard class is equal to a 88 in an honors class, and an 80 in an AP class.
Therefore, a 4.9 or above is completely possible, seeing as the average person only has to take 6/24 or less standard courses. I only have to have 1, which I've already take, and I have an AP to balance it out... so I'll probably near a 4.8, 4.7 for my freshman year.

my gpa is so high because I have 4 weighted classes at school (straight A's) and My school counts dual enrollment classes as weighted (i took 2 classes at drexel last semester and I'm taking one now).

thus, my gpa is ridiculously high. The # 2 person at my schoool has like a 4.15

Yeah, I'm also 1/300, but that means almost nothing, despite how competitive our class is. I felt like I was overloading taking only five APs this year, but considering some of the geniuses here who take like 10, I feel pretty average.

I wonder if they prefer genii to geniuses?

But honestly, do they typically have Year-long AP courses, or 5 and 5?

Oh, and as for me currently:

5.0w/4.0un

x/75.

Why? Because I only have 1 final grade for any course right now.
