Okay, so, I found out my class rank and GPA today, and it was kinda different than what I expected. So I kinda wanted to see within the CC community what kind of GPA correlates to what class rank, to get an idea of how competitive the different schools are. Also, this could I guess be a brag board, and a lot of people, myself included, like those.

4.47 on what scale? It would be better elaborated if you’d list your UW. And By the fact that you’re in the top 2% seems that you’re at a decent level.

A Scale please - at our local HS the highest possible (if you could take all AP classes) would be a 4.8, our past valedictorians have had in the 4.2-4.3 range, but the city next door has a weighted cap of 6.0, so your GPA would be mediocre (it would indicate several B’s in an honors curriculum).

GPA and class rank are taken in the context of the school they’re from. That’s why they like test scores - they can be used to compare either you to other students nationally, or to compare your school’s profile to that of other schools (more accurate than comparing individual students).

GPA: 4.0 uw I actually can’t believe it survived this year. (I’m a junior.)

My school doesn’t rank, but I happen to know that only one other person in my grade with similar class rigor has a 4.0 uw and I’ve taken more AP classes than him, so IF my school ranked I would be 1/560.

My weighted GPA is approximately 4.5/4.6. 0.5 bump for honors. 1 point bump for APs.

4.62 W, top 15 but not top 10.
Because of 11 B’s in English, UW is about 3.85 ish.

Only one to max APs. And as calculated, even if I had straight A’s in English I’d be rank 3 ish I think. You have to abuse the system of 5 points for honors/AP (which some people repeat honors theater) and you can load up on pass/fail classes which don’t affect the GPA, which is exactly what the val/sal did because there are not enough AP classes (well can REPEAT by taking all the different arts and theater) even if you max, which they didn’t.

I think they look at it in terms of your school. so out of what is the hardest schedule possible, highest gpa, and how you performed compared to that of course AFTER they like eliminated the un-acceptable tier of gpas 2.0s etc

Regular classes at my school are worth 4.0, honors are 5.0, & AP are 6.0. I have a 4.625w & 3.875uw. I’m guessing my rank is ~5/315 but we don’t get our transcripts until next week. The highest GPA in my grade (current sophomores) is 4.75, which only 2 people have so I guess I’m doing okay.
