Can anyone reccomend a good, fairly easy class that satisfies the Philosophy requirement? I've heard that Philosophy 12 is fairly easy, but I'd like more input on that and other courses. Probably courses that aren't in the actual Philosophy department, but still complete the req. Of course, if there are any other pretty easy Philosphy courses in the department, feel free to recommend it.

Math 125A or 135? :)

from what i’ve heard, 12a is ridiculously easy but also kinda fun

@ucbalumnus: AHAHAHA oh dear god. I know that was a joke, but even if it wasn’t, those would be the two classes that I think I would truly die in if forced to take (okay, maybe bioengineering 100 would be worse) Thanks for trying though :)

@mjmay7: Yeah, Phil 12a doesn’t seem to be too bad a course. I might take it, seeing as how none of the philosophy-type courses within my major are available this semester.

hey its logic…how hard could it be?
(obvious sarcasm :))

Bioengineering 100 is an “Ethics in Science and Engineering” course:

I’m going for PH 116 this fall. People say it’s easy to pass.

Yes, Public Health 116 is great. It’s only 2 units P/NP!

Thanks for the responses! Yeah, public health 116 sounds interesting, and I’ve also heard from friends that it’s a good course to take. I actually decided to take another course this semester instead of one that satsfies the Philosophy breadth requirement, but I’ll definitely keep PB Health 116 on the backburner.

Lol, mjmay, I have immense respect for Philosophy majors, as that’s one humanities major I’m keeping my distance from. Who knew logic could be hard? ;)

+1 for math 125A. It seems a lot of applied math majors jump on it if they don’t feel like applying in something too science-related.

the other philosophy courses are hard…just not the intro to logic course

Yup, I know the rest of the Philosophy courses are difficult. Hence why I’m keeping my distance from them and why I have a ton of respect for Philosophy majors. I would not willingly choose to do that…few opportunities to bs in Philosophy—how ever would I live? :D

I found Classics 28 to be pretty easy and fairly interesting. The readings were frequent but short, and there was only one real assignment. Probably the easiest class I’ve taken so far.

I took a class from the Buddhist Studies dept. for my Philosophy req. Interesting readings and pretty manageable.

Weebly, what course did you take? I was looking into a class from the Buddhist Studies department that would fulfill the P&V req, and was wondering if it was the same one.

Rao, thanks for the heads up about the classics course. I checked it out on courserank and the reviews seem good, so I’ll keep that in the back of my mind as well.

Buddhist Studies C115 (Japanese Buddhism)

I can vouch for Classic 28. One of my favorite classes and best grade on my transcript (A+). Not a lot of work either. I pretty much ignored the class until it was time to write the paper.
