So I decided to go to a community college instead of a 4 year university because I would end up having to pay everything pretty much through loans. However, I did receive a community scholarship for $1,000 from my high school. Using that scholarship would pretty much make my community college education free for a year. However, because of priority registration and less classes or whatever, I could only be registered for 3 classes totaling 11 units. I put myself on the waitlist for a math class that I desperately need. Last I checked I was 2nd but after showing up the first day, it looks like I won’t be able to be added to the class. The scholarship requires all recipients to be enrolled in at least 12 units so it is very likely that my scholarship will be revoked. I tried to register for a back up class so I could get at least twelve units, but all the classes that are open either: 1. Are not transferable to a UC or a CSU so it would be a waste to register for them or 2. Create time conflicts with the classes that I’m already registered for. Most fall under the second category. In fact, only one open class can fit into my schedule but it is a technical career class or something like that.So as you can see I am running into a major problem. Do any of you have any piece of advice for me?
Did you ask the instructor personally if they can add you to the class? I’ve encountered some very nice teachers who allowed me to take their class despite it being full.
CC’s are small but not that small - surely there is some gened requirement you can satisfy for your 3rd class. Don’t stress. Just take a deep breath and peruse the class schedule, preferably sooner rather than later!
