Classes are filling up and I need help

during calso I signed up for Asian American studies r2b instead of math 1a since that's what my counselor recommended..and also since Asian American studies had only 20 spots while math had like 400..but as I checked the online schedule I realized that all the math 1a discussion sections are full. Asian American studies is also full but since I'm in the college of chem..math is required first semester while English isn't..I can always take it 2nd semester. I'm not really sure what I should do..if math opens up before phase 2 should I drop English to sign up for math? Or should I just wait until phase 2? And isn't Asian American studies a class that fills up quickly? I might not have the chance to take this class 2nd semester

There’s no need to drop your R&C class for math 1a. When the semester begins a lot of people will start dropping. If you are on waiting list you will probably get in especially since the waiting list for math 1a is processed manually, and you need that class this semester.
