Hi guys,
I have a quick question. How important is it to take AP physics or honors math for BSMD programs?
Hi guys,

Given the very competitive nature of these programs, I can’t see how not taking an honors/AP math track makes you in competitive in any way. AP Physics isn’t as crucial as many kids can’t fit it in their schedule.
In other posts, you mention your med-related ECs. They pale in comparison to getting a great GPA, if indeed, you’re serious about BSMD or even pre-med in general.
You should definitely take honors math if you want to get into BSMD programs. Not taking it would probably raise questions about whether you could handle the pre-med track.
Think about the other students applying…these are very very competitive programs…if you have APs at your school you should be taking AP Science and get at least through Calculus if possible.
Also your SAT should be CR + M =1500
You should also have medical volunteering at a minumum
@Alligator34, I don’t believe having taken AP Physics B (or what is now AP Physics 1 AND AP Physics 2) is critical for Bachelor/MD programs, although it is not uncommon for Bachelor/MD applicants to have taken it due to future preparation for a possible premed track. It is much more common, however, for Bachelor/MD applicants to be in Pre-AP/Honors/AP level math.
