Classes to skip in College. AP really??

If I were to take AP Physics B only in high school and say I get a 4 or 5. How many classes do I get to skip???

If I were to take both Physics B and C, and get a 4 or 5, how many classes do I get to skip?? Or do I get to skip the entire first-year of Physics?

If I were to take AP Chem and get a 4 or 5, and I showed them the lab and they accept the credit, does that mean I get to skip first-year??? Or do I just get the credit towards my Bachelor?

If I want to study Math in Univ, how does that work??? Would Calculus BC let me skip the entire first year??

Same with other courses.

If I get 4 or 5, but they don't aceept the credit, does that mean I have to re-take the course in univ??

depend on the college you are going.

No, I meant that even if they take the credit, would they let you skip? Or would the credit just go to your BS. Please read.

Like previously noted, it depends on the college. Check with the school to see what is their policy for granting ap credit.

To clarify further, sometimes the credit they give you is for a specific course in the sequence that you would normally need to take, in which case, you would generally be allowed to skip that course, since you already have credit for it.

Other times, the credit they give you is just a general credit within the subject area. For instance, getting a 5 on the Calc BC test might very well give you two semesters worth of credit. It might only get you one. It might get you one and what my college called a “MATH005” credit, which was basically the course code they put for “here’s some credit for a course that we don’t recognize”. Usually if they don’t give you credit for the specific course, they require you to take it (for instance, some colleges don’t offer a Calc I credit because they want to make sure that all of their Calc II students have seen limit proofs using delta-epsilon).

It’s all very college dependent.

What school are you going to? I have a nice little chart I made that lists what colleges accept what AP classes and which scores.

If you are going to harvard, you better be prepared to do well on the AP exam because they only accept 5s. Some schools various scores. For example a 3 will allow you to pass one class and a 4 of 5 will allow you to pass two classes. Some college, such as cal tech, do not accept ANY ap classes. So If you are going to Cal tech, don’t bother taking AP classes.

I am moving to a Canadian University. Going for University of Toronto
