Classes / Work load

How many classes do kids in the business program usually take and how many credits do they accumulate every year? I am also pretty interested in the workload for incoming freshmen.

5 classes per semester. Most meet 2 or 3 times per week. Core classes are mixed with major courses. There are NO cupcake classes and the workload is intense for all.

I also have another question: how important is the student survey in ultimately deciding which classes you will have? The deadline is pretty close and I am still indecisive about a few of the questions.

I’m very impressed by the work load at Fordham. My daughter had 19 credits first semester freshman year and 18 2nd semester. In my experience (I teach at a more competitive university and have 3 older kids) this is unusual. As the other poster said, “no cupcake classes.”

Gabelli has a bit of a reputation as being easy at Fordham, especially among science majors. Though that’s probably typical.

I was in Gabelli my first semester, and I found it was a lot of work, but the material wasn’t too difficult. That said, I never partied or anything like that. If you come in looking to work hard, you’ll do very well. But Fordham does not hand out A’s.

And, to answer your questions:
first semester at Fordham, I took 5 courses, 3 credits each.

And that survey…I don’t think it matters too much to be honest. Just put what you like and be honest, and it’ll be fine.
