classes you wish you took in high school

^yep, I don’t think i’ll ever put in as much time in a 2 credit class as I did in Gen Chem Lab

Dont take a single AP class. They lower your GPA as you are competing against a self selected bunch who are smarter than average, your grades will suffer as the curve is measured against these smarter students as compared to the regular dunces.

Go sign up for every single class that the burn out loadies take, it will boost your GPA tons!

By doing this schools will never even look at your transcript about what classes you took, they will instead auto admit you because of GPA.

PS… make sure that you take Algebra 1 and Algebra 2 in high school, as you want to make a good score on your SATs. Other than that just take dummy classes and ace them.

The previous post may be intended to be funny. There are some large public universities that admit mainly based upon stats. However, for a selective college, or an honors program at a less selective college, they definitely will consider the difficulty of the courseload. At most selective colleges, you will be competing against other students who have taken a full load of AP and dual enrollment classes, and the lack of these classes will definitely count against you. Most high schools provide weighting of the GPA for AP classes.

Of course, one of the main reasons for AP classes is not to get admitted to college, it is to learn how to handle college level work. There are many students who have life too easy in high school, and do not develop good study habits or writing abilities. When they get to college, they are slapped across the head, and are not able to adjust. This contributes to the high college drop out rate.

Yeah BowTieFratty’s post is a farce.

Also, I might add on AP English literature/language. Good to develop writing skills.

I personally wish I had taken ANY AP classes. It would have helped, especially English, Spanish, maybe a Science one and USH.

I wish I would have taken any and all AP courses in high school. but alas my high school didnt offer them at all.

Music Theory instead of piano. My piano teacher (who was the band and orchestra director) was a joke and barely did anything. We were given keyboards that we had to hook up to the computer and then play a series of melodies provided by the Smart Music program. I did not learn proper fingering skills in that class at all.

I also wish I had taken AP courses, but I had been too shy to ask my teachers for a letter of recommendation (at my high school, you must have your current teachers’ recommendations before you can take AP courses), and I didn’t really think I was smart enough to take an AP course (I seriously thought I was going to pass my 11th grade English class with a C, but I ended up passing with a B+).

I wouldn’t have minded getting economics courses out of the way in high school. My school didn’t offer certain AP’s though (no sciences except Bio, no Econ, no Calc BC, etc.)

I wish I had taken Beg. Music Theory. My high school choir teacher taught music theory better in a way that I could understand him than my college choir professor.

AP Econ, just because I’m now pretty interested in econ and wish I had more of a background in it.

All in all though, I’m happy with the classes I chose to take–I took what I wanted, for the most part, and I’m glad I did. I think it’s important to take AP Calc, and to continue your language, and other such things, but you also want to enjoy those four years rather than just slaving away. You should take a rigorous course load (assuming you’re aiming for top schools or merit $$$ at lower-ranked ones) but by the time you graduate, you shouldn’t look back on your high school career with regret. If you want to take that art class or that current events elective, go for it!

take all the AP classes there are in HS… i made a mistake not taking any AP (only Honors) and finally took 1 in 12th grade, which was English. I’ve always get B’s in English, doesn’t matter if it’s regular English or Honors, but in AP a “B” is an “A”… my GPA couldn’ve been higher if i wasn’t lazy lol

Psychology and/or Sociology

Sent from my SPH-D700 using CC App

I wish I had been able to take AP Physics, but the only section of it was at the same time as the only section of AP Calc at my school. (physics B and calc AB, as my school didn’t offer physics C or calc BC)
