Hi there, I’m going to be a freshman in the fall majoring in Business Management. I have my schedule all worked out but I’m still contemplating if I should change my elective. Just wondering what classes you took and liked or disliked and same for professors. Any input would be great!

ASB 222 with Falconer if you like social sciences. It’s straightforward, interesting, and satisfies several requirements (Historical, Global, and Social Behavioral).

Honestly, I would stack up your intro classes (only if you think you can handle the extra work). Things like econ, accounting, com, sociology, psychology, etc…all try to take at the beginning so you have room for more unique electives near the end when you actually decide what route you’re going towards and when your senioritis starts approaching.

I agree! I just took this class this past semester and got an A in it. It is a class that you will have to attend, or atleast have a friend in, because he doesn’t post lecture notes online. And the book is only $20 if you buy it.

Another easy class that I enjoyed was SWU 171 (Intro to Social Work) with Chandra Crudup. It satisfies Social Behavioral and Historical. She has easy online tests, PowerPoints are online, and several guest speakers that are really interesting to listen to. She was also a very nice professor who cares about her students and their success.

Both of those classes sound great! I have room for two electives and I’ve chosen REL 100 as my first, so I’m going to see if ASB 222 or SWU 171 are open! If anyone else has a class they liked please share!

I’m not sure if you’ll be able to get into ASB 222 for Fall 2010… I checked and it’s already full (there are 10 reserved seats left but I don’t know who qualifies for that) and this class does not accept overrides to get in. When I took it last year, there were kids coming in at the beginning of class trying to get into it and they couldn’t. It’s one of those classes that fills up really fast!

Yeah, sadly neither of them fit into my schedule Have you heard anything about HST 106 Asian Civilizations, PHI 101 Intro to Philosophy, or ASB 211 Women in Other Cultures? Those are some I’m considering right now.

When you choose an elective, try to choose one that satisfies as many general electives as it can, and could be used as a pre-req for a future class that looks interesting. It’s good to get stuff out of the way now, that way you can have more freedom in later years when you start to realize what you really do or do not like.
