Pierre, thanks for sending this video. Can’t wait to show son. Haven’t watched the whole thing yet, but what I’ve seen looks great.

We’re sending in our app in the next couple of days. Scores sent and transcript requested.

Thanks for the housing tip and the acceptance info. Glad it will pay to apply early on the housing side.

Hope you’re having a good year and keeping up your grades.

just be aware that the earliest that you’ll get a decision from Clemson is around February 15th (unlike other school’s rolling/early action policies). Also, they do a bad job of communicating with you whether they have received your application or not. They say in their mailings that they will mail you a postcard when they have received your application and that they will keep you updated by mail on the status of your application. I never received any mailings between the time I sent out my application until I got my acceptance packet. Just letting you know in case you get stressed out or frustrated like I did last year at Clemson’s admissions office.

Clemson’s going great, I’ve put in a lot more work than I did in high school (less partying, more studying, more involvement in organizations/events) and I think it’s definitely paying off so far in terms of grades. I have A’s in all of my classes except Chinese and English but I think I can definitely improve in those classes.

Pierre, thanks so much for the info about the decision time. Yes, I will be stressing. Still have to finish the app. Please tell me there’s no essay.

Oh, and so proud of you with your grades! Hope your parents are as well. I’ll bet they’re giving you a hard time over Chinese, though.

There’s an optional essay but I would encourage you to complete it as it’s a chance to add something to an otherwise “regular” essay (many people probably don’t complete the essay). Also, it shows that you are serious about your application to Clemson.

Thanks, Pierre. Need to clarify. There is a required essay, and then an optional essay, or is there only an optional essay?

And yes, I’m pretty serious. It’s not a free app. I don’t spend 60 bucks too lightly.

From the Clemson website:

"Applicants for admission are not required to write an essay. A “Candidate’s comments” section is provided for the applicant to offer any remarks believed to be important in the evaluation of the application. These comments can include academic background, educational objectives, achievements, and career goals. "
