Clemson Honors or Georgia Tech

Here is my dilemma, I love both of these schools but each has its pros and its cons.

Clemson: I live 30 minutes away, its not as prestigious so it will be harder to get into grad school, I know people there already, all of my siblings went there

but I have over $10000 in scholarships, I've never heard anyone say they hated it, it's fun, it has a good (not great) engineering program, you can have fun wether or not you are greek.

Georgia Tech: I've heard nothing but it's a butt load of work, there is no social life, none of the professors help you, the test are way more than what the teachers let on.

but I have in-state status, you have a job waiting for you at graduation, its easier to get into med schools, its 2 hours from home, its in atlanta...

I want to have a good time in college but I also want to be really successful after college, I havent had to work that hard in high school not going to lie but I have kept up a 4.0 GPA and got a 1320 on the sat. Would going the hard route and picking georgia tech be more rewarding than an overall experience at Clemson?

Good question - I’ll be interested in your answers. It might be helpful for respondents to know what your intended major is, especially whether or not it’s Engineering.

what’s your major?

If you’re willing to knuckle down and do the work you will probably do well at GT. It’s not nearly as impossible as a lot of people make it sound.

That said, med school? Your UG school doesn’t matter so much there. Go to Clemson, you’ll probably end up with a higher GPA.

my major is engineering but at georgia tech I am a polymer and fiber major meaning I get in state tuition unless I switch majors so Im stuck in that major so if I wanted to try something else I would have to pay out the butt

but you really think if i go to clemson and get a higher gpa ill have a better chance of getting into med school?

In a word, yes.

well you want to do engineering right? then go to Clemson

plus you get honors there too!

Clemson: I live 30 minutes away, its not as prestigious so it will be harder to get into grad school,

That’s just not true.

but I have over $10000 in scholarships, I’ve never heard anyone say they hated it, it’s fun, it has a good (not great) engineering program, you can have fun wether or not you are greek.

We like Clemson!

If you’re intent is to go to med school, I don’t see what the big argument is. Clemson certainly can well prepare a student for med school while also providing a full campus experience.

GT is social-life challenged. And, if you’re a guy…GT is girl-challenged.
