Clemson vs USC (South Carolina) Engineering

I'm a HS Senior that's gotten in to Clemson Honors and USC Honors who would like to study Biomedical Engineering. I've been offered a full ride + to USC Honors and have been offered roughly 15k a year at Clemson including state lottery money (but not including outside scholarships, for I haven't heard back yet).
I'm very interested in research, especially in biomaterials. As a whole, I like Clemson more. I like the feel of the campus and all of the people I have talked to; however, I would be paid to go to USC and would recieve special benefits from the scholarship I have received.
What would you guys do and why? How are the programs at both of these universities? Paying for Clemson wouldn't be an issue, assuming I don't get any outside money. If you went to either school, why was it great?

University of Southern California wins here no question but its extremely expensive. SO, Clemson.

If you are referring to Southern California and not southern Carolina, there is not one distinctive honors program here for engineering, each of various prestigious and rarely accepts freshman. Scholarship interviews are still going on here, so full tuition scholarship recipients would not be known at this time…

Wait, Is that University of South Carolina ? I would go with Clemson because it has more reputation and better academics. Don’t fall for the honors gimmick.

Clemson is the engineering school in south carolina and their BME has been around since the 80s.

This is a no brainer - you like Clemson better and academically their engineering program has a much better reputation. Honors is nice but you’re better off going to the engineering school in South Carolina (assuming that money is not a problem here)

I’m a senior civil engineering major at Clemson so let me know if you have any questions about anything Clemson-related!

He was obviously talking about South Carolina, considering it’s the other major state school.

I hate USC. The campus is horrible, it’s way to large, and it’s in the armpit of South Carolina (Columbia). Clemson’s engineering is better, better campus, and you like it better. With the 15K and instate tuition you will pretty much pay nothing. USC has a good honors college, but I would NEVER go there, much less for engineering.

In the Southeast, USC always stands for the University of South Carolina. That being said, for engineering I would go to Clemson if $15,000/year is not a problem for your family, and it sounds like it would not be. Clemson’s engineering reputation is strong. As a resident of North Carolina who has friend and family connections to the engineering community, I was completely unaware that USC even had engineering. USC’s reputation, especially that of the Honors College, is on the rise, but the engineering programs must not be very well known.

And, as an aside, if I were told to choose between four years in the nice small town of Clemson or four years in Columbia (with its terrible heat), I would choose Clemson in a heartbeat.

This is such a no brainer if money is not an issue. Go to Clemson. Congratulations on the scholarship awards that give you the luxury of choice…choose the academically superior school, that you also like better. Win-win.
