I live in a state where the public school leaves plenty to be desired but don't know if it's worth spending 30-35k a year for the difference to go to Clemson. I saw that it's ranked 68th in the US News ranking, can anyone give some insight as to the quality of the education and experience?

Clemson is a very good school, but that may not be what’s really relevant for you.

What is your major?

What is your home state (most state flagships have good programs for the most common majors…like engineering, bio, chem, English, History, etc). A school’s overall ranking doesn’t diminish this. Rankings have to do with other things. They don’t tell you much about the common/popular majors that the schools offer.

Clemson costs about $40k per year to attend as an OOS student. What are your parents saying? If they’ll happily and easily pay that amount then fine. If they won’t pay most/all of the costs, then the question about going to Clemson may be moot.

Shouldn’t you be directing this question to your parents?
