Not a hardship, but it might be relevant. I completed all my graduation requirements during junior year so that I could take all dual-enrollment classes during senior year. The nearest university is 70 miles away, so I’ll probably be moving in with relatives, which will mean I won’t be able to continue most of the extracurriculars at my high school during senior year.

essay quality and if you’re getting help: I think they’re pretty good, though I’m not really an awesome judge of my own writing.

My high school is extremely rigorous and high-achieving; what worries me is not so much my grades but the fact that the average for my school is a 2220 SAT and I am clearly far below that…And I’ll be viewed in light of this

Leadership–I’ve stage managed five shows at my high school (that and all other production staff positions are considered leadership roles), and I’ve been on term council for three years. For our final spring show, which is all student written, directed, produced, etc., I’ve been elected to produce (seniors-only).

Mostly soccer (First love) and track and field (regional champs in both, state competitor in track, very difficult events like 300m hurdles… I’m only playing club soccer in college so this shouldn’t be a huge factor) I was a cheerleader for one season. It was fun and I was pretty good, but it wasn’t for me (this led to me falling in love with track  )
Dad left 5 years ago and before then there was trouble in the house. Was poor for our first 6 years in the US living in Baltimore City. I learned how to read with Elmo and Tigger and my brother was my “private tutor”. We made it out of there once my mom graduated from nursing school and got a job. Won’t get into too much detail, but I’ll say my family is one of those that people never thought would get anywhere.
They were very good in my opinion. I worked on them to perfection. I had basic help from my big brother and AP English teacher. They were true stories written from my heart.
Low performing school. 98% African American. Avg SAT is in the 1200s three part. My 2010 makes me seem untouchable in that school. It’s improving slowly though. It’s also about 10 miles outside of Baltimore City (for those who live in MD, this can give you an idea of the quality)
I’m very inquisitive and love to learn. I like to debate so I enjoy learning a lot about different things. I consider myself smart, and so do my teachers. I love math, science, writing, and robotics. I’m a girl of many many interests.

A bit curious as to what your methodology is, but I suppose you’re not going to give away any secrets, are you? ;)

My school offers a little over 20 AP courses. My school is a nationally ranked, competitive public high school. ~600 people in my class.
4.0 UW, 5.0 W is theoretically the max possible at my school (although since certain non-honors courses are required, it’s impossible to actually achieve a 5.0)

No community assistance
Not famous :frowning: I’ve never been suspended either, though, so that’s a plus!

Hardship: My guidance counselor probably talked about my parent’s divorce in her letter, which affected me quite a bit in sophomore and junior years.

My mother makes less than $20k a year, my dad makes about $120k. My mom is the custodial parent.
Mother has an Associate’s from a local Community College. My dad has a Bachelor’s from a large, public US university.

My essays were great overall, imo. I’m not getting any professional help, but my cousin offered to edit them for me and handed them back with no changes (and he does this sort of thing fairly often).

I do well in class overall. To be honest, I’m not sure how I should interpret “scholarly talent,” haha.

I’ve already received decisions from some schools, but don’t peek! I want to see if your method is at all accurate. Consider it a challenge. :D

  7. Bowdoin
    8.Grinnell
