Clinical Laboratory Science Program

So I’ve been looking into the Clinical Laboratory Science program at SJU for undergrad and it has some interesting courses. BUT i’ve never heard of it and not a lot people actually spoke of it so I’m wondering how it is like. I tried looking it up but I couldn’t find a thing. Can anyone tell me how it is like and whether I should choose CLS over Biology? Would it be a good alternative for the path to being a PA? (as an alternative from the PA Program)

Its a niche field. There’s a lot of jobs but upward mobility is lacking somewhat. Overall pay is livable but not great. If If you like laboratory work and body fluids its a good background to have however. I would look into cheaper options than St. Johns though if you can.

I worked in NC first, my first job payed 40k + 7k for night differential. With 3 years of experience I landed a job paying ~96k on dayshift in Silicon Valley. Of course the cost of living out here is obscene making living here pretty marginal. Lab supervisors usually make 60-120k/yr depending on location, and LIS specialists maybe 55-125k. If you get into medical school being a pathologist is another option.
