I’m currently looking into graduate programs, for both Industrial Organizational Psychology and Clinical Psychology. The nice thing about looking for I/O programs is I can just go to www.siop.com and they have a search engine and I can view the universities from there. Anyone know of a similar search engine for clinical psychology? And again, only looking for masters level, no PhD.
Is there such a thing as clinical psychology at the Master’s level?
There is, but it’s relatively useless. A clinical psychology master’s program will not allow you to become licensed to practice therapy. Really, the best use for a clinical psych master’s is preparation for a clinical psych PhD program for students with low GPAs, who are changing fields (trying to enter psychology with an undergrad major in something else), or who don’t have a lot of research experience.
If you want to do therapy, you either want a master’s in mental health counseling or an MSW with a licensed clinical social worker track.
For that reason, there really is no one repository for MS programs in clinical psych. If you do a Google search though a lot will come up.
Why do you want an MS in clinical psychology, OP? Especially when your other alternative is I/O? They are very different from each other.
