Close Community Colleges

Does anyone know the closest community colleges? Also, I have no car so if you have any information on the bus situation it would be greatly appreciated. The closest community college my searches have exposed is Holyoke Community College. I am a new transfer student who will begin in spring 2010 and I am just hoping to take a few public speaking classes. I have already maxed out my unit limits for public speaking at MHC and it seems a waste to use my credits at MHC, especially considering the price of units :) Though being out of state it may cost me an arm and a leg at a CC anyways. Thanks for any help students or parents can give.

Why would you take a class at a community college, and have to pay? Chances are good there is some kind of public speaking class at Umass.

Check out the Career Services Center at Mount Holyoke for public speaking classes. Also…the Weisman Center for women and leadership.

At MHC you don’t pay by the unit…so…if something is offered there…take it!

MHC offers a public speaking class. Many courses are speaking intensive (check ISIS) and the SAW (Speaking, Arguing and Writing) Center provides support for them (as well as for writing intensive courses.) I would also suggest looking into the Debate Society.

Holyoke Community College is a wonderful college. There is a PVTA bus (#R25) that goes past MHC to Holyoke Community College. It’s only about 20 minutes away. If you are still looking for a class, you can go to [Holyoke Community College](http://www.hcc.edu) to see the course catalog, or call Angel Morales in the registrar’s office, 413-552-2998, who could tell you if sections of public speaking classes are still open and what the cost would be.
