club starters

Oh, cool. Sounds really fun. Yea, I wasn't planning on starting it this year. I was thinking that if next year, if I'm not ripping my hair out from junior year (SAT's, AP's, SATII's, EC's, college searching etc...) then I'll see if I can start one up and see if we can make it work. Thanks for the info!

I founded the literary magazine the 2nd week of my freshman year. I had planned on doing it since 8th grade and it was surprisingly easy to start. The only downside was that the school gives ECs outside of sports/the play absoluetly no money; so we had some fundraisers and every member pitched in yearly dues. It was really intimidating at first, leading meetings as a freshman and talking to upperclassmen I've never seen before. But, it all worked out and we have over 20 members now. Meetings are really relaxed, which people seem to like. We usually just gather around a few desks and talk openly (meaning that I don't dictate the meeting at all). Also, running a publication is a ton of work, especially when the teacher advisor doesn't do much! If I learned anything from the experience, it'd be to make the club interesting and get everyone involved/keep them informed.
